Soviet1 Posted June 25, 2008 Content Count: 331 Joined: 02/11/08 Status: Offline Share Posted June 25, 2008 I guess the reason there are so many WWII games is because its the last time Americans did some good in a war, there was a clear bad guy that we eventually beat and that was that. I dont believe thats happend for us since then. Exactly! Sol Sol dont forget Korea. No. Korea wasn't the same, the only reason the US fought in Korea was because of the Cold War. :/ I guess thats really an opinion statement... Near the end of the war particularly, German weapons were far more advanced than the Allies had. Quoted for Truth. Link to comment

I wish they'd do something more futuristic instead, kind of like BF2142. There aren't enough futuristic shooters around, that is, futuristic with still a touch of realism if that makes any sense. It's the difference between Unreal Tournament III and BF2142, whatever that may be. Link to comment

Now the WW2 theme is getting old and tired, so they're moving on to "Modern Combat" themed games. Mark my words, you'll see five years of "Modern Combat" games and you'll be sick of them and ready for the new theme. Link to comment

Lux Posted June 25, 2008 Content Count: 6712 Joined: 03/06/08 Status: Offline Share Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) I like modern combat. Reasons.. -Ancient fighting such as rome...eygpt etc are getting old, played far too many rts' with this theme. -Futuristic games are also, overplayed. The good thing about futuristic is that it can be anything, because it isn't based on truthful past. Although some futuristic games are meant to be realistic of what the world might be like at that date. -Post-Ancient games such as WW2, tudor time..etc are THE most boring. Why...because other than WW2 and possibly WW1, nothing really happened worth making a game of. WW2 is completely overdone, how many times do we have to play the game before we know what happens, and how to cope with the really poor game play. Er so if I had any suggestions it would be... 1. Stay away from swords and arrows, and no adding magic and elves to it doesn't make it ok. 2. Stay away from scenarios that have been made a zillion times. 3. Making mega futuristic laser guns will only keep someone entertained for a certain amount of time. 4. Realism is something people want, but elements of crazy impossible stuff are also nice. Example...No one wants to kill an army with one man in a few noobish spray of rounds/ magical bombs, on the other hand dieing to one man in an entire army is realistic, but not much fun. 5. Gameplay is better than graphics. Some of my favourite games are my favourites because the gameplay is tremendous, half the time the graphics are pretty bad, but it doesn't matter that much. 6. Things such as Camera views, being able to see around you without spazing your hand control/mouse is nice too. When it comes down to it, COD4 has alot of these things. Sadly what lets COD down for me is the online. Like Medal of Honor, fighting in wrecked towns crouched in grass/ on a high building snipering is not my idea of fun. Which is why I like CSS a bit more, because there is more close combat. Edited June 25, 2008 by Lux Link to comment

LegalSmash Posted June 26, 2008 Content Count: 2936 Joined: 02/04/08 Status: Offline Share Posted June 26, 2008 I am glad someone is doing a pacific game, and now in decent grafx, it may be good. My only beef is that its a COD game, and its going to basically cookie cutter what COD2 did, while looking slightly better than COD 4. I want more freedom of gameplay, brutality, and less jingoism in game, I want visceral. I want Company of heroes, in the pacific, on an FPS that looks good, but that can run well enough on a wide enough range of systems that its enjoyable to play online... Most of all, I want Pizza.
