The BDs/AOs have come together and made a decision to improve our current admin system and open up the opportunity to more members. Here are the changes we have decided to make:

Anyone can apply for admin. There is no longer any postcount or rank requirement you need to meet to apply for admin. Even if it's your first day on the forum and you feel that you should have admin on our servers, you may apply and as long as you have no recent bans, no member has anything negative to say about you, and you receive generally positive feedback, you have a good chance of being approved.

Applications will stay open for roughly one week, during which time the community members/admins will offer their opinions supporting you, or suggesting a way to improve in order to get their vote next time you apply. You need to have at least 10 votes for your application to be considered for approval, and at least 80% of those votes should be "yes" votes. After you've been given enough votes and/or the 7-day application period is up, a Board of Director (BD) will post Approved, Reapply, or Rejected.

If you've been approved, you've gotten enough support from the community and a BD will get in touch with you to get your admin set up.

If you were told to reapply, you will be given a reason why your application wasn't approved this time, as well as how to win more votes so you can get approved the next time you apply. If it is your first or second time applying, you will likely be told that you can apply again in 14 days or so. During that reapply period, you should try to get to know more members and admins who can vote yes on your application the next time.

If your application was rejected, which happens very rarely with anybody, you will most likely not be eligible to apply again. 95% of the time the outcome of admin applications is either Approved or Reapply so you shouldn't have to worry in most cases.

In addition, applications will no longer be sent to the Advisors section. Applications will remain in the public forum for all members to see during the application period and after. If an application has been approved, feel free to post "Congrats" or offer advice as an admin if you wish.

For members posting on other admin applications:

  • Keep your posts on topic and polite. Off topic / worthless posts will be deleted.
  • You can vote "yes" if you know the person and think he/she would be a good admin.
  • You can vote "no" if you do not feel this person will be a good admin right now, or if there is something they should improve on before getting admin (e.g. activity, attitude, recent ban, etc).
  • You should provide a reason for your vote. Votes not accompanied with a reason will not count.

Some things to keep in mind when voting on others' admin applications:

  • Is this person active in the servers, and can he/she remain active on the forum?
  • Does this person play by the rules, and can he/she enforce them?
  • Does this person have a ban within the last 2 months or so?
  • Does this person get along with other players/members/admins?
  • Do I just not see this person because we always play in different servers?
  • If you have information about someone lying in their application, it's best to PM an AO or a BD so it can be dealt with.

These changes will allow more members to become admins without spending months upon months on the forum racking up their postcount to meet a requirement. We're simplifying the process a bit to be more fair to more people and give them a chance to participate in the community as a server admin. Althought postcount isn't a requirement anymore to be an admin, it certainly still helps in the application.
