You pretty much nailed it.

The only thing I will comment is the CPU. If you plan on keeping this computer for a very long time, you might want to consider a i7 instead of that i5.

Nothing wrong with the i5 you chose, it's just that e.g a i7 4770k costs around the same, has twice as many threads and more cache.

I7 is the same as the I5. Both are Quad core, only difference is hyperthreading and its useless when gaming.

Like someone else already said in this topic.

Stick with the i5 trust me.

I have read reviews about the i7 4770k and the i5 4690k and everybody agree's you better buy the 4690k then buying the 4770k

Mostly its because of the performance difference between the 2.

But like the rest said its a damn good computer your going to build.

are you using the SSD for the OS or also for a little gaming?

i would go for a i7 cpu to get the socket 2011 or 2011-3 only to be more future proof because Socket 1150 is a bit older and might get outdated soon if you ever wanted to upgrade.

I would do research on how your Mobo does single ram slot vs dual channel and find one that is good single. Then I would get a single 8gigram bar and if you want to spend the extra money buy a faster DDR3-1866, DDR3-2133 rather than 1600 which can net you a slight fps bump in games. 16gig will only make a difference if you are running a server on your machine and playing on it as far as games go.

Also if you are really going to overclock your i5-4690 to try and get 3.9ghz out of it I suggest upgrading your cpu cooler.

Also ercxzz is right unless your running something big not in your specs off of your power supply 600w is plenty.

Near black friday I followed this guide and built myself a gaming rig. http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/tYgXsY/great-gaming-build

Wow! Extremely good system! Some things are unnecessary in my opinion, such as the 16GB, especially for gaming. For gaming, I suggest 8GB. It's the perfect amount. But that extra 8GB you're looking for is always good, too.

Good GPU choice, I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 and it's been doing me good a lot in games such as Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield Hardline. Y'know, some of the intensive games. My GPU is able to run all of those games at the highest settings at 1080p with about 60 - 120fps. Not dipping too much. But with that 980 of yours, it'll demolish any game you'll play I bet.

Very good choice for your CPU, as well. The i5 is perfect for gaming. You don't even need an i7 for gaming, even though I have one, lol. I upgraded from an i5-4760k @ 3.4Ghz and when I upgraded to an i7-4790 @ 3.6Ghz, it showed a small difference in gaming. But, yes, the CPU you've picked is very good.

Power supply seems good. Not sure if you'll need 750 watts, though. But it does sound right to me. But just to be sure, check out this power supply calculator. It's not 100% accurate but it'll let you know the basic amount of wattage you'll need. But if you're not too sure still, just go with the 750w PSU, it sounds about right, if not that then it's MORE than enough, lol.

I think the SSD you selected is a good choice. If you're not sure if you should get a bigger SSD or not, then just think about how much you want to put on the SSD. If it's a lot, then obviously get a bigger SSD.

Everything else seems good. Good selection of components. You'll be very please with this build. Especially the "Battlefield 4 experience." Good job.
