Ganzta Posted February 15, 2015 Content Count: 2122 Joined: 08/12/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) Piggybacking from Moo's thread, I am also building a new PC. I haven't had a desktop for probably 6 years now. The last time I built my own PC was from when I was in middle school, so I don't have much knowledge on the current PC parts I used Moo's list as a start and made this build with a budget of $1500: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QWJdzy Any comments is appreciated. Is it worth it to get the i7-4790 instead of the i5-4690? Updated: new power supply storage to WD black series (Leon) CPU cooler to quieter version Edited February 21, 2015 by Ganzta Link to comment
ercxzz Posted February 15, 2015 Content Count: 46 Joined: 07/24/12 Status: Offline Share Posted February 15, 2015 Just get i5.. i5 for gaming and i7 for professional video/photo/music editing.. HT (Hyper-threading) doesn't help any games.. Why 750w psu ? 600w is enough for i5 and gtx 970... 1 Link to comment

One that supports both N network and AC network (AC is the new wireless standard) More because of maby disconnects and stuff. Also i would suggest to search for reviews of wireless cards to pick out the best possible one. That is if you want to go wireless 1 Link to comment

I like the set up as well and if you want I have seen some 27 inch monitors for a lower price than that ASUS you have chosen. I got my AOC 27 inch for $179 1 Link to comment
Wolfy Posted February 16, 2015 Content Count: 65 Joined: 09/15/13 Status: Offline Share Posted February 16, 2015 Good GPU choice. I have the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 and it's extremely good. I don't need to SLI to do most of my gaming with. Like, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, those really intensive games, I have no problem running them with the 970. I never dip below, what, 40 - 50fps? Probably an average of, like, 90 - 115fps all the time in 1080p. You'll have no problem playing any game you wish to on Maximum settings at 1080p. Just like ercxzz said, stick with an i5, I actually have an i7 but it doesn't really do anything more gaming-wise than what an i5 could do. Just stick with it. Very good monitor. I have a BenQ 24" XL24II and it's 144Hz. You can really notice the difference from 60Hz once you're on a 144Hz. But only for a little bit. You won't start to notice it as much anymore when you get used to it, of course. But, yes, you'll still love 60Hz. And, again, agreeing with ercxzz about the power supply, just get a 600W psu. That's what I have, and I've had absolutely no problems with it. Anyways, very good system overall. You won't have any problems with running most of the games you play at max settings at 1080p. You're gonna love it. 2 Link to comment

Guest harro
I currently have a 60 hz monitor. Would that cause an issue if I dual monitor with a 60Hz and a 144Hz? No. And your monitor has built in speakers btw. If you're going to add on outside speakers might as well get some good ones or just stick with the monitor's. 1 Link to comment
