Neptune Posted July 30, 2015 Content Count: 1513 Joined: 10/03/11 Status: Offline Share Posted July 30, 2015 There were much more critical comments, actual discussions about the person, and people strongly advocating for or against. So yeah... Yeah back when I applied I heard people fought for me in the CE+ about my application. Idk if you guys still do the CA+ discussions though. Link to comment

SL4DE Posted July 30, 2015 Content Count: 1612 Joined: 05/09/15 Status: Offline Share Posted July 30, 2015 Being new to the community, I'm one of the new admins. I have no idea about the old system. When I placed my admin application on the forums, I wanted people to be brutally honest. The players that were the most honest with me were the ones I interacted with the most. They weren't harsh, but they were honest, and gave me a push in the right direction. I agree that most people are not willing to be mean, but they can still give a no/abstain/reapply vote without much detail. I will always believe in constructive criticism, if there is reasoning behind it. Link to comment

Caution Posted July 30, 2015 Content Count: 11501 Joined: 10/19/08 Status: Offline Share Posted July 30, 2015 You have to be more specific when you say "old system". To me, this is the old system that we currently have lol Link to comment

To me, this is the old system that we currently have lol Think, least what I'm assuming he means, was the system where you would apply for admin then the thread was made private to where only admins or higher could see it. Then about a week later iirc, a higher up would PM you the results of the application and if it was a no or reapply they would generally state a few reasons why such as activity, or maturity or whatever the reasons. SpikedRocker Posted July 31, 2015 Content Count: 6242 Joined: 04/13/08 Status: Offline Share Posted July 31, 2015 You also don't see constructive criticism because people are too scared to say what they feel about this person because they might get their post reported and it might be deleted for being too mean, so you see people who want to say why this person shouldn't be admins for the right reasons, they are living in a society like the 1600-1700s France that they can't say what they want to because they'll get punished. This does not go for troll posts like "WOW THIS KIDS A FAG DONT MAKE HIM ADMIN LOOOL!", this suggestion just makes it easier for people to answer without having to feel like they're going to get hate on by other people or the person who made the admin app. Since I've been handling Admin Apps, I haven't really noticed this happen. I really do want everyone's honest opinions and as long as you articulate them in a professional manner, they will never be deleted. If you are an ass about how you put it, yeah I'll for 1, ignore your post, 2, it will be deleted, 3, if you do it constantly, I will block you from the section. Also the adding back thanks to admin app was one of the dumbest shit ever because you can tell people only thank who vote yes making it seem more like a popularity contest which is stupid as shit cause we're giving admins to people who are "cool" I don't even look at this stuff, so it has no bearing on the process. I feel like the admin system has become a thing where only people who say yes vote. People are scared to say no to their friends even if they want to so i think it should be private again and people can post their honest opinions Again, please do not be afraid to post your thoughts as long as you don't be an ass about it or try to start fights with other people. I think cappn's main point here was that having the applicant be able to see the votes will influence how people vote and what they say, which is the main thing he wants to get rid of. Doesn't want too much bias in the voting just because the applicant can see who says what. I do, however, think that its a good place for people to ask questions of the applicant and he applicant can respond to answer any specific questions people may have about him. People shouldn't have to need balls to straight up tell someone they don't want them as admin. And they should as long as they aren't dicks and vaginas about it. I've kinda kept the process I've been using mainly due to I don't want people to find a way to abuse my system. My system involves reading between the lines. I generally get a good idea of how people are from the posts but some people that I know really well and work with, they kinda weigh a bit more cause I trust their judgement. Is this a fair system? Maybe not, but I don't see how many yes or no votes one applicant gets. I like to see the kind of support they get and whom they get it from. This is a discussion we are continually having amungst the higher ups and we will take input. For now, if you aren't comfortable posting opinions in an application please send your input via PM and I will take it that way. 7 Link to comment
