Why should we remove it

This is a repost of the one that is currently in the ZE sub-forum. Can someone please lock that for me?

 

Now onto it.

 

No one enjoys when the surf map becomes nominated because everyone that has played the map before understands that it will mean 8-10 rounds of easy surfing where the zombies cannot reach the players due to the cages. Players simply vote it because it has the word surf in it and don't understand that there are servers that allow players to surf to their hearts desire. The common excuse from 90% of people that defend the map is "It's because the people that hate it can't surf". And that is barely true. Although there are a lot of players that cannot surf or do not understand it, most of the people dislike the map for its repetitive nature and simplicity. Other normal zombie escape maps can be blamed for the same thing, yet there are still lots of people that enjoy the maps (e.i. icecap). Icecap can be to blame for players lack of a high skill ceiling, that is a different topic. Lots of players don't find the map fun because the CT side is too easy, and the T side has nothing to do until the CTs reach the defend points, and then get locked back in a cage again.

 

Helms Deep is also requested beecause most of the time the map suffers some kind of mishap where the map breaks, so the CT team cannot win or the T team cannot win. Some times its the ladders, or an invisible wall blocking the ladders. Sometimes the doors will refuse to open because a map trigger failed. And if the map does work, there is no way that the ZE server can finish it most of the time due to server lag from grenade spam or lack of skill.

 

Exchange needs to go for the time being simply because the map is impossible to complete due to a door glitch.

 

The Surf map has to go or be replaced with a more difficult version, and Helms Deep could stay, but it might have to be tweaked.

 

My opinions and observations of ingame behavior are the basis for this post. I don't want a flame war to start over something this simple, just discussion.

I am also in support of removing Exchange. Apparently there is a glitch where some of the doors will close immediately after they open, and when a bunch of people attempt to go through said doors, only about 1-2 people make it while the others get crushed or are trapped until the doors reopen. Not sure if that's how the map is though.

 

As for Surf and Helms Deep, I am not sure about removing them, especially Helms Deep since it's my all time favorite map for ZE. Also, from my experience, the glitch for Helms Deep only happens from time to time.

I haven't encountered the door glitch in Exchange Innovations yet so I can't really agree with that. However, I think that its a nice map and I think its pretty cool how the console reminds you to fall back.

 

Yes, Helms Deep can get glitchy, but a bunch of other maps get glitchy from time to time. I understand why you would want it to be removed though... We can't even win once LOL but its a pretty fun map to play imo.

 

It's not really that players pick Surf Facility because of its name, but because they would like to surf. I like this map because its different from the others. Its fun to surf from time to time ^^.

Remove surf already, it's a boring map that's completely broken, because most of the time you don't even see the zombies until the four corner stage and the first stage is very easy to hold. The timers should either be increased of the wall that blocks the zombie removed/nerfed.

 

Helms deep is pretty glitchy, pretty much half the time you play it something breaks. Imo it should be removed just because of that or at least removed off of rotation because it's annoying to play with people that don't know what they're doing on it.

Personally, i've only ever seen the exchange door glitch happen once in my time playing. Overall the map is not too difficult if players actually start giving a fck about defending.

 

I'm on the ropes about Helms. Maps kinda T sided because of weird spawns and people being generally stupid.

 

And Surf can gtfo

Alright, lets start.

 

Surf facility is boring, I admit. Even tho I am a "born and bred" surfer, I admit that map is pretty boring. However, for some reason people really still like it, so I'm not seeing that being removed.

 

Helms Deep has some trigger failures and I have a few ideas on what could be the culprits on that, but for now I'll keep it around.

 

Exchange Innovation I can actually fix that bug (had to fix on a pb map too).

As to update, since people didn't get the original post about the maps.

 

 

 

 

Surf needs removal because it is a joke map now, and when it is picked it is the most boring shit to sit through for 7 rounds. Nobody plays it for zombie escape. Because frankly, there are no zombies to escape.

 

Helms Deep needs serious fixing on the triggers because they fuck over a good defense when there is one. This happens most of the time and makes it so the CT team either fails to defend or just ends up letting themselves die.

 

Exchange NEEDS fixed now or removed. The map is a very fun map and aesthetically is pretty good. But the door glitch makes impossible to get to the large door room because it kills anyone that can't time the jump. This isn't rare by the way, it happens every round even if the map is reloaded. It is now somehow stuck into the map. It wasn't like this before, and it is impossible to avoid since it is in the EASY stage of the map, and every round after.

 

The only map that needs to go is Surf. It needs to be replaced for a more challenging map, or fixed so the CT team has to actually defend, because the map can be won with 4 people that would never have to actually shoot until the end. Maps like these are what make a majority of players doorhuggers. The other 2 can be fixed and returned to the map pool because they still retain the essence of the gamemode while actually requiring players to defend the doors.
