Changes in Membership

If you were around in 2008-2010, you probably remember Honorable Gamer (HG). 5 years ago, this rank was removed. HG was a rank that was given out automatically to people who had been here for a few months with 400 posts, and they got a few extra perks. The problem with it back then was that it was automatically given out to anybody, so it eventually got to be a circle-jerk of oldfags who trolled people. Not everyone in the rank was like this, but it got up to a pretty hefty amount. The rank was removed by Garfield, along with some other ranks as well (like LG).

 

Well, here we are 5 years later, bringing it back! HG has been a hot topic over the past few years, and one that we weren't really sure how we'd go about adding back without taking on the issues it had before. At the same time, we totally demolished what Regular used to be; people used to have to actually earn it. Now, there isn't any sort of rank earned until you reach admin, which didn't really sit well with the Board and me.

 

Honorable Gamer has been redesigned to reward long-time players, and those who have contributed to the community more than the average player. All admins may nominate players for Honorable Gamer if they feel they deserve it. Once an admin fills out the nomination form, it will be sent to the CA section for voting. This promotion is open to all Regulars who fit the above description and meet the following criteria:

 

 

• 200+ posts on the forum
  
• No bans over 6+ hours within the past 3 months
  
• Not permbanned within the last year
  

 

Just because someone meets these requirements and is nominated, doesn't guarantee they will be promoted. CA's+ will participate in voting, and support nominations for players who they believe deserve the title. Like the admin applications, they will also post why they support the nomination or not. Each CA meeting, we will go over the candidates and decide who to promote based on the support given.

As of today, the Member rank has been discontinued. Now when a player signs up on the forums, they will not have an "official" rank until they receive SG.Reg status. The promotion to SG.Reg is automatic once you have been on the forum for 30 days and have 50 posts.
