I've often overlooked the ignorance behind the term being used in this case, but since you asked; I've always known it was meant to mean 'holy war', but in a general sense it's just the religious struggle for Islam. Google is an amazing thing and you can find out quite easily the meaning.

 

Quite commonly misinterpreted as a suicide bomber or something, since being a 'jihadi' is used in the news, and then the story is often about some terrorist who just happened to be Islamic. Even more misinterpreted from the fact we are using it as a player who blows himself up with the command jihad_detonate. Literally makes no sense, but there you go.

 

As for the sound, a good ol' leeroy jenkins would be funny.
