They're actors on a stage that provide entertainment following a predetermined outcome without real competition during the match. Link to comment

TL;DR: WWE is a sport. You work hard in the ring; a competition to see whose fan base will grow, you will become champion. Sounds a lot like "acting", work hard on set, become famous and grow fans, you will become a movie star. Edited December 19, 2015 by floffypus Link to comment

Supa Posted December 20, 2015 Content Count: 1765 Joined: 12/30/09 Status: Offline Share Posted December 20, 2015 I meant to answer NO in the poll. Most people have already said it. There is internal competition with ANY job. Is being a stunt devil a sport? They get injured. They compete to get roles in movies. But it's not a sport. WWE is a form of entertainment. It's kind of like a sports movie that is dragged out over time. The wrestlers are athletic live-action actors. Like others have said, the outcomes are pre-determined. There is no actual competition. They are not actually trying to hurt each other to win the match. It's scripted for the most part, with obviously some improv in there as well. souceboss, you have some of your facts wrong when it comes backstage competition. In fact, the competition is during the live shows, except they are competing for fans reactions. WWE is a business and if your stuff (wrestling, promos, etc.) is selling to the fans, they will buy your merch. You can be the most talented guy in the ring, but if you are not getting over with the fans, you will never see a push to the top. It's just the way it is. WWE doesn't try to pretend to call itself an actual sport. It's more like sports theater. Anyways, the key word here is SCRIPTED. That alone doesn't make it a sport. There is no way you can twist and turn it to make it be a sport. Link to comment
