You should also look into the R9 380 as it's pretty much the same thing as the GTX 960 but the 4gb model costs considerably ($20-$30) less. I wouldn't touch the 950 or the 750ti but out of those two the 750ti would be better. Otherwise, everything else looks fine, you might want to add another stick of RAM as I think 8gb is sort of entry-level for gaming systems nowadays. edit: Oh you already bought a card, rip. Hey man I still have a 30 day return policy so I could still go back and get a different one! I will definitely check out the R9 more..I checked out a video and it looked like on paper the numbers were better, so if that is the case I will probably order that one instead! is there going to be anything different quality wise on amd vs evga 950?? I remember the feeling I had switching from my nearly 5 year old GPU to the GTX 960. The increase in performance everywhere was pretty substantial. Sorry for the double reply but I'm on my phone and can't double quote very easy lol. I am upgrading from my 6 year old laptop with an i3 Intel Integrated graphics and 4gb of ram that barely ran Cs:s in low graphics, so it is a huge jump I love it! Do you have a view on what the other guy said about the r9 380? Link to comment

You usually get more bang for your buck buying AMD cards, but Nvidia cards come with extra features like PhysX, adaptive V-Sync, and a few other things. Link to comment

It looks like the r9 380 is a better one than the 960, and if I won't lose anything too crazy, I'd rather swap it for the amd instead. I figure since I'm not planning an upgrade in the next few years I might as well get something good while I have the money Is the 4gb graphics vs 2gb graphics really necessary? Link to comment

Personally, I would get the 4gb just to sort of 'future-proof' my decision. Since you are running on 1080p you should be well off with the 2gb, and if you are really tight for money, you should go ahead and get the 2gb. However, if you are planning to upgrade your monitor soon to anything higher than that definitely upgrade to the 4gb. Link to comment

I was thinking I should just get the 970 and spend the extra and not have to upgrade it for a while instead of buying a 960 and then if I wanted to get a 970 later spending more money EDIT: how can I tell if it gets bottlenecked? I'm worried that if I get a great graphics like the 970, that my i5 2320 might not be able to handle it? Or would that be plenty of processing for it? You can't exactly determine which is the bottleneck between the GPU and CPU as some games are more CPU intensive and some are more GPU intensive. I can tell you right now that you probably don't need a CPU upgrade anytime soon as I have an i5 4590 with a GTX960 at 1080P which is only a slight upgrade from the 2320. Get the 970 if you'd rather max out current games compared to running them on high, it's up to you. I would not under any situation buy a 960 and then save up for a 970, pick one and by the next time you have to upgrade, you'll probably have to build a whole new system. Link to comment

I WENT WITH THE 970 VS 950 AND WAS BLOWN AWAY AGAIN HAHA. I upgraded to 16GB ram and don't think it is bottlenecking at all I looked up other posts with my specs and no one said it was. I bought Witcher 3, and am playing it on ultra settings with perfect fps, it works so amazing! However it was $410 at best buy so I kind of want to return it and order one off of amazon for $70 less (love to save money ;)) but was curious what brand you thought was the best evga, gigabyte, msi etc, personally i've been using EVGA but I didn't know if one was better than the other as far as the ones on amazon. or specs. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-04G-P4-3975-KR/dp/B00R3NK2LE/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1452483344&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+970 there is so many different "models" and I don't know what to choose or what the differences are like FTW, FTW+, SC, SSC, SSClk Edited January 11, 2016 by peachesgod Link to comment
Guest harro
The differences between the terminology are that some cards are set to a higher clock speed by EVGA. FTW+>FTW>SSC>SC Brand loyalty doesn't really mean too much to me when it comes to video cards, I kind of just purely base my choices off of reviews. Link to comment

So clock speed just means it's faster or gets better quality? And same here. Link to comment
