I'll go with the PS3, bc its what I have. I got it bc my PS 2 died, and i wanted backwards compatibility, AND bluray.

 

I have a friend with the xbox 360, it seems like fun, but aside from Halo, there was not much exclusive anything that I wanted. Additionally, I am not a big fan of paying to play online, after having already paid for the machine AND the game. It just seems retarded for me.

 

Get the PS3 or the Wii.

I have an Xbox 360 so naturally that's what I would recommend, but I just can't do that. Perhaps I had a faulty system, but regardless it weighs heavily on my opinion of the console. I haven't had any experience with the PS3 so I can't really recommend either one without playing one of the two.

 

My Xbox 360 for a period of 7 or 8 months has had quite a few mid-game disc read errors and a few freezes, which culminated in a GPU failure causing the red ring of death with three lights. Apparently this thing is so rampant that the warranty only on that particular issue has been extended to 3 years. I've had the console back for less than a week and so far besides one incident where I started up the console and the colors were retardedly bright and were bleeding across the edges on the dashboard GUI(and a simple restart fixed it), I haven't had any trouble with it yet.

 

I just can't recommend it, I've had my PS2 for several years and the only thing I ever did to the console in terms of repair is a laser replacement(and that really was only because the console stopped playing burnt games, official PS2 games were fine and if I had just official PS2 games I would never have had to replace it). The original Xbox I did have to send off for repairs, but I don't remember ever having disc read issues with it in the middle of a game.

 

The 360 is the shoddiest console I've ever owned, by a large margin. Again, could be due to bad luck. I will say that the 360 controller is by far the best controller ever built. Ever. I'm almost ashamed the PS3 is still using the same controller design as the PS1, it's uncomfortable and the D-pad is absolute junk.

PS3 is better, and with that you get a higher pricetag but depends on how much you want it.

 

Firstly, most of the games you get on the 360 are on the PS3, and the ones that you can't get like Halo (shit) don't even matter, and then you could always buy them on the pc anyway.

 

The PS3 has its own good games and to be honest the hand controller is alot easier to use. Ontop of that you have the graphics, not the most important thing but with HD DVDs being discontinued Blu-ray comes out on top.

 

Also XBOX guys claim that their online is better, but realistically this isn't true anymore. When you compare the onlines of FIFA 08 on both consoles, there is no difference at all, and other games like COD4 too. Also you don't have to pay for PS3 online, and the incoming updates of the PS3 are slowly pulling it further ahead.

GTA is SLIGHTLY better on the 360, but it isn't AT ALL something which would make you want it more...because the online alone is great, an extra island is worthless.

 

COD4, Assassins Creed...both on the PS3.

 

Senior seems to think that the 360 has thousands more games, but considering there are only a HANDFUL of 360 exclusive games, and virtually every other non retarded wii game is actually on the PS3.

 

Friends wise, PS3 is no worse than the 360. To be perfectly honest...I know NO ONE who has a 360, except some rich dick who has all the consoles. Maybe it is just where I live, because one guy got the PS3 everyone did but....the PS3 is just BETTER, I too have my former geography teacher added as a friend, and its not hard to make new friends either, in GTA you can wander into free modes and meet many people, you'll probly need a mic to actually get to know them but thats not really a problem...

 

Finally something I forgot to mention...the 360 BREAKS ALL THE TIME. I admit my PS3 broke within 2 weeks of me getting it, but it is a very rare problem and once I got a new one replaced for free with the guaranteed 1 year warantee it hasn't had any problems since, not even a disc not reading, its just been perfect.

 

and again...any 360 exclusive game (I think) is available on the PC, if you even wanted any of the games. If you don't buy that many games it doesn't really matter, I just buy some fundamental games that I keep such as FIFA 08 and GTA4 and the rest I get a good return on and buy another game.
