GhostTitanium Posted March 16, 2016 Content Count: 659 Joined: 01/05/16 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2016 I think that any member should be able to reply to a player report. I see how we might keep them closed to avoid possible flaming against an accused person but other than that I see no positives. On the otherhand when it comes to making it open I see many positives. Opening player reports would allow players with more proof to add it to an already existing report instead of making a whole new one which is more work for everyone. Another thing, I cannot tell you the amont of times I have seen a player report and wanted to reply with more proof or my personal opinion such as, "I reported this guy a week ago and he got banned for the exact same thing," or something along those lines. Finally, opening reports would allow for less biased reports. Every player messes up in some way eventually, but if someone gets that one time and makes a biased report players who were there can say, "hey, I was there and he did break that rule, but it was by accident and overall hes a really good player. I don't think he should be banned." Link to comment
Phonicz Posted March 16, 2016 Content Count: 1621 Joined: 03/09/09 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2016 You could always just pm someone if you have more proof. For both of your scenarios, either to help them or further prove that they were breaking the rules. Link to comment
Goku Posted March 16, 2016 Content Count: 2589 Joined: 02/05/12 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2016 Gonna touch down on your points directly first: More proof: PMs. If you see someone make a player complaint and you have more proof, PM a higher up the proof. You can still make another complaint and a CA or higher can just merge the threads. Personal opinions: Again, PMs. Also you can check to see how many times someone has been banned through the banned tab. And I safely assume the CAs+ check that and take it into account when administering the complaint. I don't think they want opinions on the player complaints. They want proof. Less biased reports: I don't think one minor mess up such as one freekill will be enough proof to get someone banned. At least not AFAIK. Usually a pretty good amount of proof is needed when making reports. Plus we have ban appeals for this exact reason. I disagree with opening them to the public. As far as I've been here they have been closed and it has been known if you needed to add onto the complaint that you could PM a higher up. Hell, even admins aren't supposed to comment on the complaint unless they were there. So comments such as "I reported this guy a week ago and he got banned for the exact same thing" wouldn't be allowed anyway. The current system keeps complaints very short, simple and clean. Opening to the public would only encourage unnecessary posts. All of the points you brought up can be addressed through PMs. Link to comment
MyHobos Posted March 16, 2016 Content Count: 742 Joined: 09/28/15 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2016 Literally opens the door for players to target each other on the complaint and go 'so-and-so is a bad CT' or 'so-and-so doesn't know the rules he freekills' or various other things we literally don't need clogging up the complaint. I used to agree with the idea before but then I kinda realized it could turn into a popularity or a bashing contest. Link to comment
Revenga Posted March 16, 2016 Content Count: 2504 Joined: 04/13/09 Status: Offline Share Posted March 16, 2016 I agree with the admins on this. Complaint sections haven't been open like that for 8 years, because before that people would reply to things they weren't involved with etc, and it's just a matter of time before it would happen again tbh if it was opened back up. If you've got additional proof to add, PM an admin or higher up or the CA who dealt with the complaint and they will take a look at it. Replies saying that the guy was banned once or twice before are just clutter to the thread, we already know if a player's been banned before. We look at that when we ban players and bans often get perm/longer if a person has multiple bans. And finally, if you break the rules, you get banned. If they want to appeal on the forum then they're welcome to, and if you have something at that point to add, you can message an admin or AO to post for you. If we start having say "I don't think he should be banned", it's your word against the proof, and generally speaking the proof is gonna win that argument. Link to comment

And as already stated, no need as if an offender does it again, another complaint can easily be made. Link to comment
