[Rejected] Admin Attendance on the Zombie Escape Server

Hello,

 

I have been a fairly active member for the past couple of months (although I haven't been an actual member for very long on this website) during my time here on Steam-Gamers. Overall it has been a pleasant experience and I enjoy the community and can happily call it a home. Although I find this to be true, I have found an ongoing issue that has become quit the nuisance. I tend to go on during the weekend, and morning weekdays as well as sometimes weekday evenings.

 

I've just felt that there has been a lack of admin attendance towards the Zombie Escape server, I can recall no more than a handful of times where the admin has been actually on, enforcing the rules and helping players enjoy their experience. I understand that there are circumstances that require server admins to attend to and whatnot, but I feel that there is a large amount of neglect for this very populated server.

 

 

 

Things I would assume that could help:

 

If there is a lack of Server Admins, I recommend hiring a few more that could be more dedicated to the Zombie Escape server.

 

If there is a lack of trustworthy Server Admins, I recommend maybe a type of Server Hallway Monitor of sorts. One that can have less powers of an admin but enough to still make the server enjoyable for everyone, for instance if they were given simple things such as muting specific mic/chat spammers, kicking griefing players, etc.

 

 

I just feel that the lack of Server Admins on the Zombie Escape server is hindering the joy of the overall experience for all players, thank you for your time.

First off, thank you for taking the time and effort to post suggestions on our forums. We take all suggestions into consideration and appreciate any and all efforts to make everyone else's time on servers better. That being said I can personally answer both of your suggestions right here.

Our admin count at the moment is 49, not including our CA+ Staff. We don't really have a lack of admins but more so a lack that truly play ZE everyday throughout. Usually the servers we have that require the most attention (based off my own personal experience) is TTT and Jail Break since their gamemode rules seem more inclined to be broken than our other servers.

 

We don't exactly hire admins as your pronounce it but they all go through an application process after getting the communities trust and notice throughout our website, servers, and even teamspeak. We usually just promote admins as they make applications, the rest of the community votes on said apps, and are then approved by a BD in a week.

That's really not a problem in any sense at all for us. I can truly say that every single admin we have is very trustworthy. We wouldn't exactly need a new rank for administrating servers, but thanks for that idea.

 

The reality is, I honestly think admins these days just don't play on ZE as much as other servers, I wouldn't exactly know the cause of this since I myself do not, and do not ever intend to play ZE myself since it has just never been my cup of tea. That would have to be more specifically answered by other admins who play ZE or even @Crazy Swede the server manager himself.

I've noticed this and I blame @Leon Mordecai. Jokes aside, I admit there has been a huge drop in admins being around on ZE. I've hopped on a few times and saw that there would be times where an admin needs to be around to take action. I usually do my best to get on ZE whenever I see there's no admin and I have nothing to do.

 

I also encourage the others to try to help and play on ZE even if it means just giving it 15 minutes of your time. I've had to deal with a lot of people either mic spamming, being racist or disrespect in general. I know a few people that normally played on ZE have stopped and I'm guessing it might be that you're slowly getting bored of the server and you just try the other ones. Completely fine with that but if you're an SA that doesn't normally like to play on ZE then please do give it some love and help facilitate it.

 

Last thing that can be done is just player complaints. The CAs can do their best to ban ASAP once it's submitted.

I have no idea what you're talking about @Black Rain, should do a better job as CA. I also blame @Crazy Swede for having bad Internet for like a week or two.

 

As for the thread itself, we've recently had a drop in the amount of admins due to either people stepping down or being removed from inactivity. I think the main reason not many admins play on the ZE server is probably because it's one of the more hectic servers we have. 52 people playing on the server is a lot and when there's a big population like that all at once there's bound to be a lot of people mic/chat spamming, being racist, trolling, etc. Unlike JB and TTT where there are more situational rules and people trying to give orders or call out people, ZE doesn't have that (besides things like go defend the point or fall back,) people are going to just talk about random nonsense while running around a huge ass map.

 

So what you can do is either make a player complaint and report in on the forums so one of the higher ups can handle it, or try and friend as many admins as possible and PM them if needed. Also going on our Teamspeak and trying to hail an admin helps too

As a standard player who hops on ZE whenever it's around 35 pop or so, I can help you out a bit @Nuclear Onion

 

Firstly, the server does have it's fair share of problems with rules. Anywhere from teamkilling, to friendly zombies, and of course the standard players being racist type of stuff. However, since most of the population is new, coordinated teamkilling is heavily reduced as the human would just die, and there aren't AS many maps with stuff that can cause teamkills as there were in Source (not to say there aren't any, neko canyon, indiana jones, and potc with the bridge breaks/door breaks/blockades for example). Friendlies are much less common on high pop considering the # of zombie spawns, and the low chances of the only zombie getting friendly, but on low pops I've seen it happen a lot.

The other problem is that retry zombies exist, though to a lesser extent. And this is a problem that can't really ever go away.

 

The second problem really lies in the perception that ZE doesn't need admins as much as other servers, even though, with it being the only server with such a high max player count, it's easily the most chaotic server there is, which also leads to WHY it needs to be watched.

Since I personally am a huge fan of ZE myself, I have a hard time to see why so few other admins prefer to play on ZE. But biggest reasons I've heard is to the chaos that is not rare -that happens on ZE. Which is some what understandable due to our high player count.

 

But an easy solution would be to simply call for help on our chatbox, in our TS2-server or add some of our admins to your friendlist on steam. Call them whenever you see a rulebreaker on the server and you will most certainly find somebody willing to hop on and deal with the situation. Should this fail just submit a player complaint and I assure you that the player complaint will be dealt with accordingly. Just remember that all our admins are doing it for free.

ZE used to be one of the server i visit regularly. The main reason that stopped me for going ZE most of the time are the lag issue. Every time i get in ZE, after a period of times, i will be lagging like hell and had to rejoin every time.

 

I suggest you post demos or add some admin to call us when there is needed for us to enforce the rules

So as being a sever administrator I do enjoy getting on ZE when I need to. I have friends on there that tell me if there is a rule breaker (mostly mic spammers). But I do attend ZE when other servers are with admins on. But going with the tread there are hardly admins on there but we have reg or some mems who are on there that tell us what is happening around there. So we hop on to get rid of them. So no need to worry, I suggest you adding admins on your friends list to get them on ZE to help you out.

I unfortunately do not play on the ZE server just for fun, therefore do not spend much time on it. However as an admin if called and available I would help out and stop rule breakers on any server that has them.

 

We can as a group of administrators attempt to get more time on the ZE server, however I would for now suggest that you get some in your friends list to call upon, as well as other players from ZE doing similar. Of course, player complaints are also very welcome. Thanks for your post.
