Kippe Posted May 15, 2016 Content Count: 1109 Joined: 04/30/12 Status: Offline Share Posted May 15, 2016 So basically I've been looking to upgrade my PC lately. As I know nothing about computers I asked a friend for some help and they directed me to the GTX 970 to replace my AMD Radeon R9 M360, as well as a new PSU (650w, as opposed to my current 280w). Was ready to buy them today when my brother told me I should wait since the GTX 1070 / 80 is being released soon, and I might be able to get one of those instead, or get the 970 for cheaper. Personally I really don't want to wait too long, but are price drops that significant that it might be worth it? And should I expect to need more than 650w if I end up getting the 1070? I wanted to be able to do recordings without having fps spikes. Its all your choice afterall. Link to comment

You will most likely need a new power supply, however, im fairly certain that 650 watts is more than enough to drag your pc and a 1070, but when in doubt, use a power calculator. 1 Link to comment

They are as good, or they say is better, than a Titan for like $400-$500 less. These two cards should be better, but I've only seen the graphs where they compare the cards to a 980Ti. Again, it does depend on your budget though, so the price for older cards will definitely go down. I bought a 970 two months ago ;~; but it's still a pretty sweet card and can run alot of the newer games very well. Like Pan said, it's good to use a power calculator and I bet you could find a 80+ (bronze, silver, or gold) with 600+ watts for a reasonable price. PSUs aren't that expensive. Link to comment
