I am planning on buying a new video card soon. Is there any dirt cheap video cards that are good?

First of all, how much are you able to spend on a gpu?

Secondly, you might want to hold off for around a month with purchasing a new one, since there's one gpu coming out that might interest you. I'm talking about upcoming RX 480 from AMD which is supposed to perform like a gtx 970/980 but for a lower price starting @ $200 MSRP for a 4GB VRAM edition (8GB also available). It should be just enough to last you a few years and it's going to be cheaper then most of current high end GPUs.

i agree with punky. you should hold off a month, and wait on the benchmarks fot the AMD. however, i think it might perform around 970/980 at really good price. or i would take a look at the GTX1070.

All the rumours say that AMD's RX480 is going to be the best budget card.

And with the GTX 1080 realease, i think the 970 and 980 will drop in price. but who knows. its just a feeling i have

Best thing is to wait a little, unless you have a 700$ budget. if you do. buy the 1080 ;p

My budget for it is around $200 so I will wait a month then buy one of the GTX's. I don't like AMD's. I know I am going to sound dumb but how do I find out what video card I have now?

1. Click Start.

2. On the Start menu, click Run.

3. In the Open box, type "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.

4. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. Click the Display tab.

5. On the Display tab, information about your graphics card is shown in the Device section. You can see the name of your card, as well as how much video memory it has.

Works for me, I'm running Windows 10 but I'm sure it's the same thing if you're running a different Windows.
