Is the GTX 1080 as strong as people make it out to be?

Looking to drop some money on a PC upgrade and the 1080 seems to have a massive circle jerk around it right now.

 

 

I heard about some issues of overheating etc.. and will probably wait till the price drops a bit but is it worth the money after price drop?

i haven't even heard shit about the 1080 and i can only assume the people who are complaining about it overheating are the same idiots that bought reference cards

give it 6 months from release and see what the best company to buy from

As of right now the MSI variant runs the coolest.

I've yet to read anything negative about it from a credible source; pretty much all the reviews on it are amazing. I'm about to buy one
