Solid Posted August 17, 2016 Content Count: 119 Joined: 04/28/16 Status: Offline Share Posted August 17, 2016 i think its about time to get some new zombie hands in the ZE, even if just for the subscribers. I find the zombie hands very gross, the fingers too long, and they just feel disgusting. There has to be some other models out there, right? lets put them to good use! PSA If it isnt possible, i dont mind, this isnt a game breaking feature, but it'd compliment the server alot Link to comment
Inception Posted August 18, 2016 Content Count: 363 Joined: 12/26/15 Status: Offline Share Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) There are a bunch of models out there on game banana but I have an Alien skin thats just 600kb that includes hands as well which we could use as a subscriber only thing. I'll upload some more models from other servers into the folder below if this suggestion is accepted. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/l71u492gtfp2a/Models Edited August 18, 2016 by Inception Link to comment

Alright. So the reason I was against this was because of two reasons. First is that you will have to force YET another model download on the player. So this perhaps COULD have been worth it if it wasn't for the second issue, which is what we encountered with the VIP Mod. For custom hand models to work, you will need to force the client to reload their game basically. If you don't, then they won't load the custom hand models. This can be done for example by typing "record" in console as this is one of the things that forces it. Another one is tabbing in and out of a fullscreen-settings game, which will do the same. As a VALVE are strongly against taking any control over player's in any means, there is NO way you can force a client to reload their game and thus forcing a reload and thereby loading the custom hand models. There is a 3:rd way how ever that DOES work. That would be if you could through the server entirely disarm the client from all its weapons and then give them back. But then you would need some kind of a plugin that disarms the player's weapons and then hand the same weapons back again. And disarming lets say 52 players and then quickly re-arming them again with their weapons would prooooobaaaablyyyy cause just a tad TREMOUNDEOUS amount of lag >. But except for that tiny issue? No problemerino TL;DR - The hand models would probably not properly load unless you find a way to force it, which is basically mission impossible. *Swede disappears back again into his bottle* 2 Link to comment

If it shows up as the old model, then when the day is through for the people playing and they exit the game, next time they'll play will have the problem solved then. In addition, didn't all new players have to download the hand model for the one currently used at some point - so why wouldn't it have been an issue there? @Crazy Swede Link to comment

Every game session you play, you will have to force a reload WHILE PLAYING to get the new hand models as a player or you will end up with the classic one's again. Rejoining the server or restarting the game will only roll you back to the old hand models. So it has to be reloaded while in the game. Do you see where I'm getting at? 1 Link to comment
