That motherboard isnt a very good choice for a 6600K because it doesnt support overclocking If this was me i would either pay a few extra bucks to get a Z type motherboard that supports OC or swap out the processor for a non K and save some money for another stick of ram.

You dont have to listen to me, just what i would do. :) Good Luck!

Okay, so with the help of the fantastic Grimreaper, I was able to pick out the parts I want for building a PC under $1000:

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/x3kGkT

NOTE:The correct case I want to use wasn't on the website so I chose the closest I could.

The CPU on Amazon is the same price, but actually 3.9 GHz

I'm gonna use Amazon for all the parts (Amazon prime YEA) And when I put all the parts into my cart, it was approx $910 total including tax

Did I miss anything needed/necessary?

@LampShade @Ham @Skinny @matt @Jake

If you are going to get a 1060, get a 6 GB. You'll most definetly appreciate it. Also, do you plan on overclocking? The reason I ask is because the processor in that build is best for overclocking. I would get the AMD FX-8350 instead of the Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core. The FX gets 4.0 GHz while the i5 gets 3.5, plus it's much cheaper giving you money to beef up to the 6GB 1060 instead of the 3GB.

EDIT: just realized you said the processor you chose on Amazon was a 3.9 GHz, if it is then ignore the processor part I just said, lol. But still, if I were you, I'd go with the 6GB GPU.

So I could either go for a double fan 3gb gpu or a single fan 6 gb. What would be better for my type of PC? Also I have no idea how to overclock.

I have the 6600K and I overclocked it to 4.3GHz and it's pretty much stable all the time, but i also do think that if you're going to get a cpu with a K at the end, you should try to find a mobo to support overclocking as well.

How would I tell which motherboard supports overclocking?

I just did a search of "motherboard overclock" and found these two that look decent

Both those motherboard will not work for your computer because your chipset needs to be LGA 1151 not LGA 1150.

This is mine:

And this one would work for you:

It just depends whether you want to overclock or not. Think about it like this... Let's say your CPU runs at 3.5 GHz. Pretty much if you overclock it, you can make it run up to about 4.0-4.3, but you'll be stressing it out a lot more. For example, if you don't overclock, your cpu could last 7 years until it goes out, if you overclock, it would only last until about 5 years, but at the same time give you much better performance.

As for the GPU, the 6GB is going to have better performance. As long as you have case fans, definetly get the signal fan 6GB.

I have a GTX 960 overclocked with 4GB and 1 fan, but still wish I had more. The more GBs the less studdering in games, higher framerate = better performance.

@Solid Steak those arent very good mobos for OC.

This is mine http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4968#ov Its socket 1150 because im running an i5 4690K (im going to overclock when i get the time).

For your cpu you want something that is a Z class motherboard that supports socket 1151 because you're running a 6600K.

For Example http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5530#ov Which is pretty much the same one i have but Socket 1151

Seeing as nobody really can give you any decent hardware advice. But a few maybe.

No offense but don't post your own older motherboards, you'll confuse him even more that way.

I made an edit of your list:

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cL3tWX

Not sure if it's saved or not. I added a screenshot just in case:

http://i.imgur.com/S2j9CkW.jpg

I changed the H110 motherboard to a more decent motherboard designed for Overclocking, the GIGABYTE GA-Z170-HD3P is a great choice for it's price. It's a standard OC motherboard with USB3.1, M.2 SSD slot and few gimmicks more.

Changed your RAM to 2x8GB DDR4-2400. As 8GB is a minimum but some games like BF1 require more RAM. As mine goes all the way up to 11GB usage. Thankfully I have 32GB :p

Anyways moving on.

Also changed the GPU to a MSI GTX1060 OC 6GB. Basic card with good cooling and enough VRAM. 3GB is way too low for AAA titles on high or Ultra settings. Which is certainly possible with the GTX1060. Single fan cards are only useful for smaller mini-ITX builds with tiny cases. other than that a double fan lay-out is always better. Don't need anything more expensive.

Also changed the shit EVGA PSU to a better EVGA 550W Gold rated PSU. Much safer when Overclocking. You'll thank me later.

All the other components are good.

do not under any circumstances get a mini ITX motherboard if you are getting an 212 EVO fan. i am guessing whoever helped you with your part list figured "the 212 EVO is a good cpu fan so just add that." they aren't wrong, the 212 EVO is a great fan (i use it on all my builds,) the problem is that it is fucking massive. On a regular sized board this fan blocks one of my RAM slots, I have to remove the heatsink first before putting in a new RAM stick. i can't even imagine how you would fit anything on a mini board if you had a fan, it'd take up like 1/3 of the front of your mobo.

also make sure your case is wide enough for your fan. i have a 10 inch wide one and I have around an inch and a half of extra space between the 212 EVO, so a 8.2 inch case would be cutting it pretty close.
