Can we make the karma system less punishing because there instances where we do have to kill one another to sort problems out. For an example t-baiting is a lot more frequent due to the fact that people are scared of losing karma for killing an idiot that is shooting around you or at our feet for no reason and being a literal troll or just shooting/knifing players and run away(i do this alot so I can't say much but, yeet for the people of this server XD, in my defense I knife or shoot people with my love). Also sometimes a detective can call out a person to be killed and turns out he's innocent and you lose karma for carrying out your duty. Plus sometimes there is miscommunication or a free-killer comes on and mass rdm occurs...

so pls make the karma system a little bit more lenient.

No one's replied yet? Weird..

Anyways.

Quoting XeNo right off the bat.

I think that kind of system is pretty forgiving.

If you're killing an innocent more than once every handful of rounds, the problem isn't the Karma system, it's how you're choosing to play the game. If you shoot everyone that seems suspicious or you kill people before IDing bodies or getting an explanation when you can, then the karma loss will be there regardless of the system in place, unless I make it painstakingly easy for everyone.

People that are regulars to TTT and know how to play the gamemode best hit max Karma in less than a week last time, I'm hoping this month will be more of a challenge. If there's too many people hitting sub-800 karma, I will start handing out free resets to get them back to 1000, but I'd need a good reason to do that other than, "I just can't help but kill an inno every few rounds, man". Having a 4 traitor kills to 1 accidental RDM ratio should not be a very big deal, honestly if you don't gain karma I typically question if you should get officially warned about RDMing or not.

I will be changing the karma damage penalties next month, you won't lose damage until below 500-700, but you'll lose the damage much faster. That should be forgiving enough.

Personally, I think the people who end up below 900 play the game a lot more safely and will learn in time that they can't just blast people until they have a safe enough cushion to do so (2k+ Karma) and will learn to play the game better that way. Double Karma weekends make the losses worse and I get that, so I may not have double penalties in future weekends, just double rewards.

My own 2cents:

Current karma system is fine (in the time I played) and changes to penalties will be coming soon anyways (probably).

Like XeNo said, it isn't the karma system, it's how you're choosing to play the game. Yes, you can be killed for T-Baiting but it's player's discretion whether or not the kill happens. Just ignore the stupidity and call in an admin to handle it if you think it's getting out of hand. If there's no admins around, it's better than nothing to just post a player complaint on them if they're trolling by T-Baiting.

The karma system is as harsh as it is for a reason. It forces players to act carefully and think twice about shooting down someone who's just "suspicious".

Despite all that being said, I'm all for changing the karma gain/penalties around again but, in my own play time, I haven't really been affected that much by the karma loss. In about 6 hours of playing like a complete scrub (dicking around with @Exk) but also playing carefully, I was able to gain around 250-300 karma easily (I've accidentally killed an innocent or two aswell).

It's not that bad to be honest. However, I see where you're coming from and think a change to the system could be a welcome change.

It's harsh in the beginning. The best way to do it is to build a cushion so you don't just fall into a trap. Once you're somewhere above 3k karma it'll be pretty insignificant. It's not too hard to maintain karma after that. It does definitely change the way TTT feels but it's not really terrible as long as you cushion yourself. It really punishes new, instant rdmers since they drop low and can't climb out.

When people can reach 10000+ karma, i don't think the system is harsh. Just learn to differentiate t-bait and actual people shooting at you will solve your problem. Don't be like people who killed on slight suspicious.

The thing about karma is that it makes you rethink your actions. Which makes it more fun, imo. You wont go and spray someone down if you know someone is t baiting or from sus. You'll want to be sure you're killing the right person for the right reasons.

i constantly sit at around 1100-1300, no matter what, and im considered a good ttt player tho. what gives?

If you can keep your constant Karma above 900 you'll be fine.

As long as you don't get the damage reduction there is no problem.

My suggestion is try not to t-bait and only kill enemies if you are 100% sure he is a T or if you have actual evidence.
