So I got a new headset, the RIG 500 - Platronics, and I plugged them in and the headphones seem to be working fine but the microphone doesn't work. Firstly, I plugged it into my headset jack on my Laptop and I could hear out of the headphones but my microphone didn't pick up any sound. I checked the box and it also came with a plug that splits it into a headphone plug and microphone plug. I plugged those in accordingly and I could still here fine out of the headphones but then everyone in teamspeak/skype could only here my computer sounds "Youtube, CS:GO, etc., and not my microphone. Does anyone have a solution or know what's wrong? Help would be much appreciated

why are you trying to make it so complicated

right click on your speaker icon in your icon tray, click "recording devices" and make sure your headset mic is selected as the default mic

Not trying to make it complicated. See, the problem is that I've already tried this, and the microphone doesn't show up under "Recording Devices." Any other suggestions?

@Insidious on my suggestion, did you just look for yours or did you actually switch between them? my brother had this problem and his mic was under a different name, so try ALL of the options

if you need drivers go to the headset manufactorers site and look for it there
