ARK: Survival Evolved Server

I have noticed that the Rust server has unfortunately not been able to hold a stable population as of lately. I believe that while Rust is a popular game and I must say it is one of the better survival games, I truly believe it falls way behind ARK. ARK is consistently in the top 10 games stats on Steam every single day. It is a more popular game than Rust, probably due to the tons of updates with new content that most players get excited about as well as their continual evolution events which accelerate the normal official server rates to 1.5x or 2x as well as offer holiday specific additions to the base game.

That being said, I believe this game would overall have a better stable population than Rust. SG does have a love for it's survival games, and now with two attempts at Rust and a crazy number of attempts at Minecraft, I think it's time to give ARK a shot. Knowing his love for survival games, I would assume @Spiritwind would manage the server and personally would love to see it so as he's done a fantastic job with Rust and truly knows his stuff. I don't know how much more this would cost to make it happen, but I am glad to provide any funds necessary. I also am willing to dedicate my time fully to provide any help whether it be with the construction, management, or advertisement of the server/community around it.

Just today, ARK has peaked over 10,000 more players than Rust.

I am curious to hear the opinions of others within the community, so don't be shy to post. Also, I am still currently doing a giveaway for the game here for forum users with a post count of 10 or higher.

Have been thinking about this for a while, as Extreme Potatoes learned today (he was thinking about it as well).

Right now, as everyone can see, the health of the Rust server has not been very good, and I think a mixup could be something needed and would also be something many of us would enjoy.

If we changed Rust over to Ark, it would by no means be permanent, rather just be something temporary to see how it goes.

Currently, Ark is and has been in the lead player count wise. Also took a look, there would be 4800 competing servers in Ark, whereas there are 4600 in Rust right now. That would give us better odds. The biggest hurtle to cross of course is getting active players on a server so others see the player counts and are more likely to join. This is one of the things we only got going a couple times on Rust, and never for an extended period of time.

I do have a group of friends, approx 9 people, that have been wanting to play on a Rust server, I believe I could easily convince them. That with the other SG players interested, would more than likely give us a leap at least at the start. I think its worth a try, but I'm also interested to hear the rest of the communities voice on such an idea.

I've ran an Ark server in the past, with success, however that was before there was an over abundance of servers (but at the same time much less players). I've also looked into things hardware wise; to be perfectly stable, it would increase the server bill by about $10 a month for the extended hardware.

I've got a soft spot in my heart for dinosaurs, and I do always pop back into ARK every once in a while just because of that feeling of playing it again. It's one of those games that keep bringing me back and I'd love to see SG host a server for it.

I think it would be a fun server I know a lot of people on SG enjoy and play ark and from my perspective, it doesn't seem like there's very many negatives or downsides to trying to and setting up a server while also maintaining it. I think this would be a fun server and if SG can pull a high enough pop and keep it alive it would be a lot of fun. I would love for this to become a server and hope to see it soon.

This sounds like an amazing idea. ARK really is a great game to play once you get over the whole resources thing, but if we speed it up just a bit I think that would make a world of difference. But imagine TAMING DINOSS!! FLYING THEMMM!!!!! It really is a lot of fun. Also raiding with Dinos aww yeee

Here's an example of it, although these peeps are quite advance.

Personally would never play it as ARK just looks unpleasantly retarded and the art is ugly as fuck IMO.

I'm not against this though if Spiritwind wants to swap the Rust server out for it, it's worth the try for sure.

Ark was a piece of shit when I bought it and tried to play it, and personally I'll probably never reinstall it. But I know some friends that really liked it, and it has a avid fan base. So I probably won't play it, but I'm not going to try and stop you or anything lol

@Spiritwind has covered everything I would like to say. I would definitely support an ARK server. ARK is an outstanding survival game, the best part of it is the dinooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooos. I would love to see an ARK server in the future.

I'm fully standing with @Extreme Potatoes on this one, both me and Erik got into Ark at the same time and we both played constantly together learning the game and its dynamics. I really do enjoy Ark because if I didn't I would not have so much time invested into that game. I mean who does not want to live in a world in which you must learn to survive on an island that is inhabited by creatures from the Jurassic period and back? The player count is probably not enough convince people because you could say Minecraft had a much higher player base with about 24 Million copies sold and about 5K copies being sold everyday but I mean.... so who cares? I want dino tendies!!!

Show your support if you really want dino tendies1!11!

Press F for Dino Tendies!

On a more serious note, I think at the very least an Ark:SE Trial Server would be really good in terms of making some members happy and potentially bringing in more members into the community. I would also really want to take part in helping develop and giving my input for a server if we ever do decide on doing so.
