how do i use obs

lately i have been experimenting with obs and uploading videos. I was wondering how i would be able to make videos without the video lagging

Use nvidia codec if u have a nvidia graphics card, that's what helped me.

Most likely your video card isn't good enough. If the video is lagging you'll have to balance resolution and bit rate to make it smoother. I scale down my video output to almost half what my display is and use the bicubic downscale filter and limit the frame rate to 30 fps. This makes my videos probably the equivalent to 720p. Not full HD but its viewable via youtube players. Not really full screen good, but most people wouldn't watch those videos in full screen anyway.

If you're playing on a potato you will probably never be able to record properly without it looking like dogshit and/or lagging.

 

It's worth trying what Spiked said if you're really intent on recording videos though.
