tummy Posted April 30, 2017 Content Count: 1 Joined: 04/30/17 Status: Offline Share Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) I really think that the requirement for nominating event maps needs to be removed. There are so many fun event maps but we never get to play them because most of the people on the server don't even know how to nominate maps. If people don't want to play the map they can simply not vote for it, but I don't see why there needs to be a set list of people to nominate the event maps. Many of the maps on the event map list are pretty difficult and require a decent amount of good, experienced players to beat it, which is why you need an X amount of people to get it on the nomination list. If it was on rotation, the map would get picked more often and tbh I'm sure there are a few people who don't want to play those kinds of maps all day. I think over time once people understand how the new system works then it will be utilized more. Basically the way the nominating event maps work is that it checks to see if there are X total amount of players on the server, and if it meets that requirement then it can be picked to be nominated. Then once it reaches a Y amount of nominations then it will appear on the map vote. Example would be if you wanted to play santassination you need about 50 players on the server and then after that you need about 5-7 people to nominate it before it shows up on the map vote. 2 Link to comment

There are so many fun event maps but we never get to play them because most of the people on the server don't even know how to nominate maps. If people don't want to play the map they can simply not vote for it, but I don't see why there needs to be a set list of people to nominate the event maps. The argument behind that voting example is pretty flawed since all it takes is majority votes to win a nomination. If the server was 60/62 players all it would take is a 30:29 vote. Even if almost half the server didn't really want to play a map they are forced to anyways. Along with that, sometimes maps don't win with server majority but vote majority and win the vote 23%:19%:14%;etc...(Without a runoff vote). So a very small portion of the server wants to play one map when other parts want to play others. Just because you voted against a map doesn't mean it isn't going to be played. As for the set amount of nominations it makes sense so that every time that the server population requirement is met an event map isn't just automatically nominated by one person and then a group of inexperienced players are thrust into a difficult map because one person wanted to play a it and people recognized the name of a popular map. There needs to be at least a little bit of planning on at least a certain amount of people in order to start an event map so that way there are people there that will defend/trigger/lead. If all it took was one person then there would be little coordination unless that person already has friends on to cooperate with or is a good leader. Link to comment
Punky Posted May 1, 2017 Content Count: 1592 Joined: 03/16/12 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2017 Guys above pretty much nailed it, so going to keep this short (and because i can't write long essays xd) That's how the nominations modification was designed and I find the current setting to be at the very minimum - better than nothing. You don't want simply play the hardest map ever and kill the server, just because the server had X amount of people, without having any that know how to play that specified map. Speaking of people not knowing how to use that system, it could use a little bit of global notifications when someone actually votes for a map and it requires X more to nominate it. That will, if anything, be included in the next update when I actually get around to doing it. 1 Link to comment

Wesker Posted May 1, 2017 Content Count: 1534 Joined: 07/27/09 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2017 @Leon Mordecai @Paralyzed any chance we can reduce the # of votes needed to add these to the nomination, but keep the player count requirement? I mean it still has to pass the general vote in order to be played, and if it becomes too easy we can just up the # again. 1 Link to comment
Inception Posted May 1, 2017 Content Count: 363 Joined: 12/26/15 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2017 5 nominations should suffice. the point of this system is to get players introduced to the map. Theres nothing more frustrating as a leader when people dont know where to go. Link to comment
Leon Mordecai Posted May 2, 2017 Content Count: 5055 Joined: 07/19/15 Status: Offline Share Posted May 2, 2017 Right now most of the required nominations needed are about 10-15% of the total server population. Most of the maps need about 5 nominations with 40-45 players minimum with the except of harder maps like santassination that need 7 nominations with 50+ players. Any lower and the maps would get nominated way more often and played. @Paralyzed @Black Rain Link to comment
