Caution Posted July 7, 2017 Content Count: 11501 Joined: 10/19/08 Status: Offline Share Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) Soooo I'm going to be building a new computer here probably within the next 3 - 5 months. I'm probably going to be moving to another house during that timeframe, so I'm waiting until I relocate to start putting this whole thing together (when you see the case you'll understand why I don't want to move it if I can avoid it). Anyways, I want this thing to be a fucking beast. I don't really have a price limit, but I have to be able to somewhat justify it in my head lol - so I can't spend $30,000 or something like that. Right now, this is the case I want to get: http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/dk-05/ I think it looks pretty sweet. It has the ability to hold two systems in it, but I'm not looking to do that. I would like to incorporate water cooling, which is another reason I need you artsy / crafty people out there to give me some ideas. I'm pretty awful when it comes to creativity in this capacity. Typically, I keep everything themed blue because it's my favorite color - but I am considering doing a green / black themed build for SG. So if anyone can look high and low throughout the internet or create some ideas on your own in regards to a layout for this bad boy, I would be grateful (and if it's super helpful / cool, will probably even give a game away or something). The awesome thing is this case leaves a LOT of open room for water cooling. Right now, all the other parts and whatnot are up in the air. I'm not sure specifically yet what I want to get, but I do want it to be pretty high-end, and obviously able to handle VR and 4k like a champ. As always, I enjoy consulting with you guys before buying computer parts. Like I said, this will probably take a few months because I'm waiting to get the desk until I actually move, but I will post updates as this comes along. p.s. thanks to all the VIP's for funding this im kidding about the vip part Case - http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/dk-05/ Mobo - CPU - i7 7700k Graphics - 2 x Titan xp SLI RAM - Water Cooling - Monitors - Storage - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dNYNm8 just for reference, not hardset 4 Edited July 8, 2017 by Caution Link to comment

The model is new so there aren't a lot of pictures on it, but there are other desks with PC's built into them with cool setups. I've looked around but I figured I may as well try and get as many people helping / looking as I can incorporate. Link to comment

His stream should give a good idea of what to expect in terms of performance though. From the reviews I've seen, the 1080ti is the most popular card for 4k builds as it's cheaper and slightly more powerful than the titan x. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into those instead. I may end up going with two ti's. Idk yet. Link to comment

Chaoz` Posted July 10, 2017 Content Count: 1740 Joined: 04/04/10 Status: Offline Share Posted July 10, 2017 Honestly I'd wait for Threadripper or Coffee Lake if you want Intel. Also I'd get GTX1080Ti's instead of the Titan Xp's. Unless you're planning on heavy rendering and require a lot of CUDA cores, they're not worth it. The cost alone for filling that desk/case is going to be quite a lot. IF you're going to fill the entire desk with watercooling it could cost around $1600 for only watercooling parts from EKWB. Plus the cost of the desk/case aswell, which would likely be around $1500. I'd get something like this if I ever would build something like that. http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/1091/5618403727.jpg Plus you'll need quite a bit of practice to get it right. You could do something like this: http://s2.postimage.org/m0pwgvuop/red_h.jpg But with the reservoirs mounted on the right or left side, depending on where you're going to mount your mobo. You'll probably need to do some modding to cover up the holes from the mobo tray, on the one you're not using. Link to comment
pizan Posted July 10, 2017 Content Count: 101 Joined: 04/22/12 Status: Offline Share Posted July 10, 2017 so this is what happens with the donations.... But seriously, they had a LL desk pc set up at the MicroCenter by my house and the whole thing was just so nice. Parts wise I agree with Chaoz. I;m not really up to date on water cooling, I haven't built a custom loop in years, but at least you don't have to worry too much about space. Link to comment
