[ZE] Adding a store system

I've always been confused as to why ZE did not have a store like the other servers... It's been said that because of lag and or download times that it would not be worth the effort. The thing is we now have a "rank" plugin that seems to do the exact same thing. My problem with the current setup is that it seems to encourage some toxic behaviors and frankly elitism towards peoples ranks. I much preferred the system back in CS:S days where there was a store that counted playtime as currency and separate GameMe ranks for people who cared about such things. Now it feels forced on everyone to "rank up" instead of being an optional side objective.

 

I know this is very controversial and a lot of players want to keep the current system in place. My suggestion is that we have both a store & rank rewards for both types of players (tryhards & casuals). We could separate the "rewards" as follows:

 

Store / Cosmetics

  • Skins
  • Trails
  • Grenade Models

 

Ranks / Perks

  • Advanced commands (leader for example)
  • Competitive skins for top 15 / 25 / 50 ranked players (?)
  • Access to molotovs (?)
  • Chat sounds (example, typing "fall back" plays sound emitting from your character)
  • Chat tags

 

I understand this seems redundant with the current system, but I feel they rewards different types of play styles. You can "de-rank" but not lose points from the store, so one represents skill while the other represents total playtime on the server.

 

Besides the above suggestions I also suggest changes to the existing system as follows:

 

Store Points

  • Only gathered through playtime

 

Rank Perks

  • No perks for playtime, only kills / damage / map wins
  • Less & more difficult to achieve ranks

We haven't added a store because Liam wants to make a special one but he's busy with TTT for weeks now...

 

 

We're not adding it till Liam is available to help. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this to you guys in the CA section months ago.

We should probably not remove anything that's currently in place for the Skillbot plugin already. It would be the same if we would suddenly remove certain skins/items from the store that people already purchased with their earned credits, that's an absolute no go. Also VIP is great example, while we introduced this we avoided taking away any subscriber perks (because those were already earned by the people that donated for subscriber) but instead decided to add more to the VIP rank.

 

Store for ZE is still something that's being worked on, but there are some technical issues, which is why it's still not there and since that Liam is pretty much on top of the new TTT plugin right now it could take a while.

 

I'm also not sure how I feel like changing it all up again.

In the future, when such a system is implemented, it would be nice to have the ability to disable cosmetic items (trails, hats, weeb skins) client side. I for one don't care about an arbitrary, virtual point system and purchased cosmetic items; I simply have fun playing through ZE maps.
