I hate that entire argument. I don't understand why we are so set on keeping it as similar as possible (I understand we have to maintain a certain level of competitiveness, but turning off team damage isn't going to turn the entire server upside down lmao). If our players want something and it improves the server why wouldn't we add it? You can make the argument that it's not what you want or it would be detrimental to the server, but that's not what we're doing and I've seen this sort of statement over and over and over and it bugs the shit out of me

It doesn't need to be as similar as possible, but team damage is a big part of it.

Imagine being able to nade stack drop and jump into drop while nades are popping without the same amount of consequence. I also use scrim to practice for real games, and I don't wanna get used to being able to spray through my teammate into an enemy.

Saying "our players want it, and it improves the server, so add it" is exactly like how I'm saying it doesn't improve the server because it ruins the competitive aspect. In the end, it's all based on personal opinion, but I can count on my hand the amount of games I've played on scrim where we have fucked around. Most of the time, people play for real, so to make the argument that we should try to make it more like the real thing is completely valid imo.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't claiming that for this specific issue most players agree with me or it would be better for the server as I honestly don't know if either of those are true. My point was that we shouldn't be going into suggestions for scrim with the mindset that if it's dissimilar to whatever they are trying to mimic then it's a no-go. I brought this up because I have seen this logic of keeping scrim similar to a PUG as the reasoning for a change multiple times now.

but I can count on my hand the amount of games I've played on scrim where we have fucked around.

I got to call you out on this one

Turning team damage off would completely ruin the "try to make it like official comp" goal.

Not sure whose goal that is, but I don't see why both have to be as similar as possible. Comp is comp and scrim is scrim, one is competition to improve overall ranking player base-wide and the other is an exhibition match. If FF is a problem on scrim, then obviously it's not being taken as seriously as comp anyways. If everyone connected is mutually mature enough to not grief because they want to treat scrim like comp, FF can always be temporarily turned on by an AO+, unless a plugin is created to do a vote for FF (kind of like the behavior of the auto-hop plugin on MG).

Just a HUGE reminder to everyone that plays scrim

So quit intentionally killing each other if you're doing it for jokes. You're just ruining the game for the rest of your teammates, case proven in this thread with Bernard.

Recently I've been playing a bit of Scrim, but it's not very enjoyable when my teammates are killing each other because of no reason, or they make a big deal if that person accidentally shot him or killed him. I know admins can warn these people, but if the admin is on the other team, they can't see if someone keeps damaging a teammate. Should a system be added like in MM, where if people do too much team damage that person will be kicked from the game?

Should not be happening whatsoever and my comment in the beginning refers to that

Common reaction but understandable

This is where I can say perhaps it's possible but we'd need someone to code a plugin for this

I thought the Match Ban plugin we had on Scrim autobanned people for leaving/teamkilling after 3 minutes/3 teamkills like in MM, but I don't know 100% for sure if it does ban for teamkilling, don't remember

There's a difference between intentionally shooting your teammate and accidently shooting your teammate, it's entirely situational, but from being on the other team sometimes of the supposed griefer it's tough to determine sometimes if they're doing it on purpose or accident.

Also to the above part about the banning plugin, does it ban for teamkilling? I'm not 100% sure like I said above @Black Rain

Nope, that plugin does not ban for teamkilling nor team attacking.

I agree with Reid. We had an issue the other day where some regulars were being accused of teamkilling and damaging teammates to troll and grief. Being on the opposite team, it became harder to enforce without seeing it. If this isn't already in, I don't see any negatives in adding it.

For situations like these I can recommend that 1) make sure demos are ALWAYS recorded for each scrim; and 2) ask an AO+ to review the demo because then he (WHEN I CANT SAY "or she" BECAUSE IM THE ONLY FEMALE AO+ RIP) can review it and confirm for intentional tking/griefing. By default I have demos set to enable because demos make a huge difference in reports.

I agree with @Reid99 and @Reece but it is also hard. If two people are screwing around and one gets banned when it was just for fun, thats not a good thing. For instance, the game that I was in two people were killing each other and screwing around, but no one cared. It's not like they were screwing up the team, and they only did it for a few rounds. We all had a good laugh and moved on. No one (That I know of) plays scrim that would do that just to be a dick. So idk but if it was up to me, I think if it was that bad someone would get an admin.

Even if its for laughs the rules state don't teamkill and don't grief. Should be abiding by the rules not breaking them.

This is why I didn't want to turn off team damage. There can be many types of hypothetical situations where it can be effective for the opposing team and Dominic just listed one. Sometimes it can play a key role in deciding a round to the next few rounds to even the whole game when played; this of course is when the damage done isn't intentional.

I'm pretty sure I brought adding it as an option to @Black Rain and all she said was that it's hard/maybe impossible to add things to that menu as it's all hard coded into the plugin.

I would honestly just prefer team damage to be turned off completely

Yep, you remember :L Which is why if someone offers to edit the plugin and create a vote for the ten (or less) people to decide on whether team damage is enabled/disabled then I'm totally fine with having that as a change for the server.
