so i have encountered situations in which there are no [sg] on when there was 20 or so people on [JB] there were of course freekiller rulebreakers and mic spammers so i propose

That we make a new admin rank that has limited capabilities such as muting gagging and slaying IF necessary

There's no point in that, there will still be instances where even those people aren't on.

This is actually something that we tried a few years ago. They used the tag [sG-A]. They had limited capabilities like you mentioned and were used as a way of vetting potential full admin.

 

I don't think we have a need for a similar position as it's easy enough to get admin if you dedicate a little bit of time. I would suggest befriending some admins so that you can message them to join the servers. It's not very realistic to expect an admin on every server at every hour, so this is one way you can get a quick response to rulebreakers.

@Gator said it really well, but also you can record the situation and then making a player complaint. You could also shout in shout box asking for an admin and one will usually turn up.

 

Also as Gator said friend some SG admins, just make sure not to be annoying cause they usually unadd people like that.

 

Also, don't quote me on this but don't we have !calladmin on all of our servers.

Record and report or add admins on Steam and ask for their help. They're usually good to join and if they can't they'll usually get another admin to join and help.

There are less admins now than there was when I got SA. I have a big portion of the staff added, yet it took more than 30 minutes for a CA to get on (meeting sunday) since nobody was on. The cheater actually had time to bore himself and leave. There are many occasions like that, where even if we try, we csn't do anything. I'd love to record, but my limited internet doesn't let me upload shit, and I guess I was the only reg one, as there are no running reports against him to this day.

 

What did you guys take away from the SG-A members? How did it turn out and why was it deemed unnecessary?

First of all, I understand what you are saying about getting an admin on. At the time I was in teamspeak with multiple admins and they had seen what you said. The only problem was, at the time the was a big event going on that a lot of people wanted to see.

 

Secondly, I do like the idea of [sG-A] but like Dominic had stated there will always be a time when people are not on. I feel after time we will get more admins but it will take time. We are getting more and more members everyday; that is a problem and a solution to the same thing. But I think this is one of those problems that we can't change much to fix. No matter what there will be "Freekillers" that admins can't get to. It is sadly a part of the servers. But admins will do there best to get on when you ask.

 

Also, you can post in the shout box for an admin. This way you can reach out to all the possible admins, instead of just the one you have added.

We can analyze the reasons for staff number being low/activity being low but the most effective solution will always be to get more quality admins. The idea presented in the OP is something that I don't think is a good idea currently. If we aren't going to trust someone with SA, I don't want to trust them with almost any of the admin commands.

 

Something important to understand is that this place is a community run pretty much on peoples ambitions and passion. At the end of the day the community is held up by people who aren't paid dick and just really want to help for one reason or another. My point is if there isn't enough admins then you guys have the power to change that by applying yourselves, or encouraging others to apply. You can do way more than that for the community but those 2 basic things have a pretty big impact. If anyone has suggestions that we haven't tried or are worth revisiting I'm sure we will look into it.

 

Lastly, I'm a million more times likely to come to a server if it's posted in shoutbox or if someone physically Steam PM'd me. The call admin plugin has a lot of bullshit reports that I can't be bothered to delve into sometimes.
