[Rejected] Live Chat PM Boxes

Instead of someone getting a message through there inbox I think it would be a good idea to make live chat pm boxes like steam it would be smoother and more easier to communicate. An idea there is an option on someones forum profile and when clicked on a chat box would appear on the bottom right of the forums and you could have multiple tabs.

We actually used to have that similar to how FB messenger chat works. We removed it because no one used it after a year. Might still have the license kicking around if people really want to.. just maybe.

If the license is still there and available it might be worth it to give chat boxes another spin. I feel like it's something that would definitely be used by some; People could use it collaborate on forming new posts/threads. The only issue I could see is people simply resorting to just messaging each other on steam, discord, etc.

I mostly use the forum PMs for someone I don't have on my friends list on Steam or someone who doesn't usually come onto Steam. In any other case, I'd much rather use Steam PMs. I don't think it'll be used very often, but I think it's definitely worth a go because I could be completely wrong.

Think this would be nice cause theres always times where you want to say something to someone thats talking in the shoutbox, but you dont want to put it in the shoutbox for everybody to see.

I'm just not sure if people would use it in the long run. If someone wants to talk to their friends, they are steam message or go on Teamspeak. I feel like it might be like discord, it will be popular for a few weeks than nobody will use it.

We used to have this feature on the forums around 2011. We do not believe that the cost/effort would be worth it as these type of things are either used to bend rules/conspire or are largely not used at all.
