Today I come to the forums to bring up a problem I have been seeing on the jail break server and that problem is a lack of admins playing on the server. Since I joined this server JB has been my favorite server and dedicated most of my time to the server. Recently the JB server has been growing in player base which is great but the issue is that a lot more free killing has been happening and a reason for that is the lack of admins on JB. The proof of this being a problem is the player complaint section almost 90% of that section is from JB. Now a solution to this is to have admins that are dedicated to JB only or get a new call admin system that admins check because what I was told is when you do !calladmin it never get checked. If you get admin, you can play whatever server you want - I don't touch a single other server besides that. Having admins restricted to PB only wouldn't help all that much. And honestly even if we made PB specific admins that people could apply for, no worthy candidates really come to mind.

 

No system of calladmin will improve the response time, admins simply don't check it. There are other forms of calling in an admin, adding some is a good idea.

Part of the reason more free killers are coming on is SUMMER break is here and now kiddos that think they’re funny and cute can come on and do whatever they want. Having a new !calladmin isn’t going to do anything really because all admins already get notifications when an admin is trying to be summoned. I check call admin at least twice every 30 mins. The lack of admins also isn’t really the thing. It’s just it’s really chaotic most of the time and it’s sometimes get hard to deal with. Ever since I became admin, I have been on PB a lot more, and I’m sure that people can put in effort to make player complaints. To get rid of them.

@Bubblez and @Snowy play on JB all the time and keep things under control most of the time.

 

That’s why there’s a player complaint section..

 

It doesn’t really matter if it’s mostly PB it’s for ALL servers.

 

Or PM an admin on Steam, or post in shoutbox.

In all seriousness our server has been in major need of changes for awhile, when I was CA I tried my hardest to get changes pushed through but a lot of it was in vain due to being almost completely alone. Just takes such a long time for things to happen and always felt like we needed a system catered to our server specifically and managers that were a bit more invested. Feel like unless the server gets a magical surge of admins that it's going to need plugins to regulate some things, but the dilemma is that no plugins out there really match our style of server due to it being pretty unique. Hiring someone or getting a TA to make a few plugins and rework our server could actually launch it past a lot of the other JB servers, if it's done badly it could also plummet it into the ground. There's other small changes as always but you're absolutely right in saying that quality, active administration is the main issue behind it all.

I'm not really saying there should be specific admins what I was trying to say is that there are over a million* admins on SG and only maybe 4 of them play on JB and I feel that recently SG has been adding a bunch of new admins to the server to help manage but what ends up happening is they play nonstop for about a week and then disappear. I would apply for admin for this issue but 1 person isnt going to fix this and I personally dont think I would get much support.

This type of mentality is the reason that this sort of problem exists. If everyone thinks to themselves, oh me being 1 more admin wont help in any way, then youre completely wrong. Every person that can help out to punish rule breakers (whether they be through player complaints or through admin punishment) make the server a better place to play on. Also contrary to popular belief, player complaints do help out A LOT. It allows us to punish people who got away with stuff because an admin wasn't present and it adds a STRIKE to their ban records, making them closer to being permed and making them be more careful hopefully.

 

I will admit that at points, Jail Break gets to the point where no admin wants to be there because it becomes such a mess so quickly that its almost better to let it sort itself out rather than slaving over nonstop admin work and having no fun. Just earlier today, I left the server because I just wasn't in the right mood to be able to handle JB at that time, but I left because DML was present, and I knew he would enforce the rules and clean it up.

 

As for the !calladmin complaints. As Dominic said, nobody is required to respond to such a request and nobody is forced to play JB. If there is an issue on the server and you need an admin on, the best way to get one is honestly using steam message, teamspeak, shoutbox, or any direct form of communication to any of the administrators at SG. I had someone message me earlier about a freekiller on JB and I wouldn't have known because I wasnt checking !calladmin at that time.

 

To sum this all up. The issue is the lack of admins that WANT to play the server, and issue behind contacting admins to cleanup the servers. Ill personally try my best to get on JB regularly at this point but I cant guarantee anything, seeing as we all have personal lives to attend to.

I thank you for always being there for people and trying to help out as much as you can but a lot of the other admins are not like that some of them I barley see play CS. I have seen people spamming the shout box that someone is RDMing and no one comes for 10 minutes even though a admin just typed in it about 2 seconds ago so they make a player complaint and by then the guy has already left the server with some of the players on server because of there bad experience and some of them don't come back. I love JB and just want to see this problem fixed.

After @All Ts & @eXtr3m3 stepped down jb has gone to shit in terms of the admin player base. A majority of current staff won't even respond to calls for an admin needed on jb because it's "cancerous". @Dominic & @DML need to do better in regaining play time from the staff. I also feel the BDs need to be more open to approving admin apps of players that frequent jb, so we as a community can continue our part in growing and maintaining our awesome player base.

Our server has no plugins that reduce the work for the admins because there aren't many public plugins let alone ones that actually help us. It would take ages for the TAs to make each plugin for us. Stuff like an automatic ratio fixer or a minimum play-time requirement before joining CT would most likely reduce the admin work a ton and encourage admins to play more.

 

Reducing the requirements to apply for admin is the only thing that I think will make more people from PB apply, not necessarily the best option, but I think it'd show some pretty immediate results. I'll try my best to get back into playing PB, I want to line up some events to do every week or so and hopefully bring some life back into the server. The rank is doing well, but the community isn't so much.

Outline what you need and we can try to get it done. It can be here in public, in the AT or CA section, in a PM, where ever you want. Just gather up a list of what you think you needs to be done to improve the server (plugins, policies, whatever), be as detailed as possible, and we'll go through and try to implement as much as we reasonably can. If we end up not being able to do something then that's fine, but we can at the very least go over and discuss everything, even if it's not workable.
