I don't think a kick or a ban should be the punishment for this seems a little too much, maybe a mute in text and voice chat?

See the problem with that is that every time someone would call us out we would need to come out of being undercover to mute/gag them, so there would be no point to it in the first place. We're undercover for a reason, to catch people trying to break the rules when they think admins aren't on, not to just mute someone that calls us out. If its just a mute/gag people will keep doing it, it won't be a punishment there scared of because people get muted/gagged all the time.

so instead of muting them for a couple rounds or so mute them for a day. I think they would learn there lesson not being able to communicate with anyone in the server would be annoying but at least they would still be able to play still.

A lot of people aren't purposely trying to call you out, they're just trying to say hello, or even announcing your presence to get people to stop breaking the rules. But a word that comes to mind is obstruction. If you make it clear that you're trying to go undercover, it would make sense to punish them for obstruction. Likewise if people are getting in your way while trying to administrate in any other form (chat spam, mic spam, hazing new players, etc.).

You do bring up a fair point, how do people know admins are going undercover? I know admins that change their names to non [sG] names and their avatars regularly for their own reasons other than going undercover. I understand people would just greet them and be like "hey (insertnamehere)" just to be nice while not realizing they're going undercover. I completely understand the frustration of trying to do shit for the server only for some reg to be a smart ass about it and the trouble maker stops until you leave. But if we were to implement a punishment, how do we discern when someones undercover or not?

I mean, if an admin changed his name, profile picture and removed all of his shop items, doesn't talk because they don't want people to recognize there voice, isn't responding to a player who is saying hello ,or is in spectator. I don't know if it could be anymore obvious, most of the time regulars know that the admin is undercover, but some of them still call us out and say, oh look an admin is here. Like the warning could be given threw private chat, and if they continue they should get punished because they got a warning. It would be kinda like the rule to not abuse !calladmin, the regulars know not to !calladmin when a admin is on, so they will learn to not call out an admin when he is on.

if it really matters that much people could just resort to saying hey in admin chat. Nobody else would see it and the admins identity isn’t compromised

Yeah a lot of regulars do it this way, like if they don't spam admin chat then its fine, but if we don't respond to them, some start calling us out verbally. Like ''Hey Will" or whatever, even that isn't that bad because there not saying to anyone that we're admins. If someone says something like "Admin I got rdmed 3 times before you got here can you please ban this guy" and starts to point out to everyone who the undercover admin is, we can pm them for a warning and if they continue, they should get punished how the admin thinks is the right punishment either mute/kick/temp ban. If they really don't do it on purpose and you can tell, then maybe a ban isn't the best, but if they have done it before and have been warned then I think a ban wouldn't be bad.

That's a little ridiculous that it would fall on the players, there is no reason to make it that extreme. Setting a certain criteria to atleast have some path for someone to get punished for it makes more sense than having any old admin with a changed name count as undercover.

I would like to take the time to thank several players for calling me out when i joined the TTT server undercover. Your efforts at calling me out were crucial at forcing me to waste 45 minutes of my life, sat waiting for RDMers to fuck up again so i could ban them (Surprise, surprise, people out to cause trouble, change their actions when they know they are being watched...

Thank you, thank you very much...

Seriously I had my name changed, all store items gone and STILL you took the time to do it. Hell, Kakashi managed to do it 3+ times and is now blocked from my steam friends and because of his stupidity won't be able to call me directly to come help him out.

Can we PLEASE actually look at doing something about this. It is a clear cut case of admins being punished for actually trying to help out, all because idiots enjoy calling them out and revealing they are there, so they can look "Super Cool" infront of everyone on the server.
