Allowing people to have access to the GOTV bots can let players report rule breakers without having to have shadow play on 24/7. Giving people access to demos of each map played can also allow for admin reports to be done more easily, overall just more security on the server. Really good idea, deluxe. 1 Link to comment

Mr.Trololo Posted July 28, 2018 Content Count: 331 Joined: 01/08/13 Status: Offline Share Posted July 28, 2018 Im not a coder myself but there are many ways of doing it like through Amazon EC2 where if you signup you get a year free or rent a VPS (Probably overkill), or buy a Raspberry Pi, Digital Ocean they go for $5 a month. I am sure if you put an ad out looking for coder they will do work for cheap. CEVO and ESEA have a custom bot in there servers that jump around each server streaming random games unless there is a league match or something going on, my friend was working at CEVO thats how I know. I could get the coder but he charges around $100 I think. Dont SG have coders ask them about it something like this I think adding this would make SG more enjoyable Don't go out and say how easy something is to do if you don't even understand how it works. If you want there to be a 24/7 stream of multiple servers, you're talking about getting at least another dedicated server or beefy VPS with the necessary hardware to encode the streams from each server. An EC2 instance - the free "small" tier - is not nearly enough, and a powerful VPS is not cheap either (even though EC2 is also a VPS service, just for future reference). And yes, I'm sure CEVO and ESEA have bots that go around streaming games, but that's because they probably have actual programs developed for this kind of thing, not some plugin they downloaded and installed. And no, coders don't do "work for cheap", we charge just as much as any other professional would. Link to comment
