Already sounds better than the scrim server , From better Anti cheat to an automated stats system and also a easier way to start the matches with our plugin can sometimes take forever. When I get back I’ll make sure to join this thanks for this thread really interesting and useful. Count me in!

Not that we don’t even have WS on scrim servers this also sounds a lot better to me :p

I was and still is against completely replacing it.

While hubs offer a variety of services and bonuses we wouldn't be able to have, the 3rd party itself might just kill the whole scrim community. Needing a spare client/account just to scrim is something most won't want to be using. It's already hard at times to find a 10th player, just imagine how much it would hurt the amount of games played per week. I'm also concerned of having to go through a 3rd party to customize/fix our shit. I'd rather be held accountable for fuckups than having to wait after a client to update their shit.

I've also said in the past that adding detailed stats would probably ruin most people's experience, some people would take their stats too seriously and ruin the fun and casual-side we tend to keep.

I am considering using a hub for future tournaments, to make it smoother, but I don't see how positive it would be to have a cool client, nice stats and more while killing the scrim community we have.

This is a good point in regards to the newer and more casual players, but from the perspective of someone who enjoys playing scrim more competitively, a third party account is a non-issue. I also don't think there's any evidence that it would just kill the whole scrim community entirely. Additionally, the unique appeal of scrim is to play competitive matches against people within SG; I simply am not convinced a FACEIT account is a big enough hurdle to discourage people from wanting to play vs people within SG.

Respectable concern, but from experience I've almost never run into problems that were fuckups caused by FACEIT. In the rare occasions where there were problems, the updates were quite fast.

I've never run into this problem where people ruin other people's experiences by taking the game too seriously purely because stats were added. People don't take stats seriously enough (beyond bragging rights and banter) for it to be a problem unless the stats can earn them something i.e. prizes. In fact, I've played in hubs where there were prizes for leaderboard placement and the attitudes of players weren't problematic by any means. The serious players were still serious, the casual players were still casual.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't any real risk of running a FACEIT hub. If it's unsuccessful we can just go back to scrim server with no consequences.

The unique appeal of scrim is to play matches against people within SG, end there. The comp format is used, but we can all agree that what we're playing rarely looks like actual competitive. I don't need evidence to argue against a faceit hub, really. I believe 2 years of scrim and 6 months of managing was enough for me to take that stance (besides, I could argue back by asking the evidence of this being a positive move on a casual community like ours). I know my playerbase. We'd see a potential burst of players, then we'd probably stop playing cause it's not as accessible as a traditional connect ip password command. It would probably make waiting time longers and by no means do I want to insult anybody, but the playerbase I've been dealing with isn't the kind to wait long to get players.

Facts are, people who enjoy playing true competitive aren't on scrim. If you enjoy true competition, you don't stick on a server where silvers and GEs fight it out. Our server isn't what it used to be and the skill gaps are bigger than ever. It would kill the scrim community simply by requiring people to use a 3rd party account to get shit on. The argument still stands, and with how scrim has been doing this past week, I wouldn't even consider switching to something more complicated.

If with your experience in a hub you don't consider people as toxic players, that's because they all signed up for a faceit hub. If we were to force faceit down everyone's throat (and mine) it wouldn't end well. Since we're talking anecdotes here, if I had to use faceit to join scrim, I'd never join again.

No risks, apart from not having scrims for a couple of months :|
