Is a hot dog a sandwich?

So, today, someone in my class asked if a hot dog was a sandwich and mass chaos broke loose. Imo, a hot dog is a sandwich because a sandwich is 2 pieces of bread with contents in between, which relates to hot dogs, what do u think?

Your definition is incomplete. By definition a hot dog IS a sandwich. People may think that it isn't a sandwhich, but going by the book says it is one.

Definition seems to depend on the dictionary... Oxford defines it as two pieces of bread.

 

Although, an interesting point brought up by my friend just now is that a sub is classified as a sandwich, and yet it's one piece of bread. Hm....
