Locals watched amazed as the water-filled column of air spun violently for ten minutes off Torbay. One said: “It was a bit spooky on land because it suddenly went cold and dark.” A local ferry operator said: “It was very unusual weather for this part of the world.” Coastguards said the spout was a freak occurrence We haven't had any freakish heat waves, just shitty rain.
