Zero001 Posted October 3, 2008 Content Count: 1230 Joined: 05/17/07 Status: Offline Share Posted October 3, 2008 I'm retired from distributed computing, at least for now. Trying to reach folder of the month with our small community is crazy. There are some massive teams out there. Regardless, if someone wants to donate some spare CPU time and electricity, it's for a good cause. Link to comment

What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery. Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes. im sure that someone you know or family has been affected by some of these diseases whats a little time of your cpu to aid in the understanding of these diseases??
