I think the easiest way to do it would be by using Shoutcast. You can set it up so different people can be dj's. We would have to set up a scheduling calendar, and make people pick time slots before they broadcast. Also, if no ones broadcasting, then whoever is awake/willing can operate the station. That way there would be less downtime than if you just had 2 dj's, who have to sleep at the same times, etc.

All admins get DJ Privilege? Would just be another good reason to buy admin:thumbup1:.

Also, having multiple DJ's would make sure that there's a good blend of all music types, not just the same music type over and over.

Also, should we really concern ourselves with copyright laws? I understand its a pretty big deal, but almost no online radio stations even bother.

Actually, if i get bored enough tomorrow, i might get everything set up for a ShoutCast station. Not right now though, gotta sleep.

From the research I've done, Shoutcast is the way to go. Its simple and easy to use. Scheduling can be worked out pretty simply. And thats a possibility but with 70+ people having some control into this might get a bit hairy but its something to consider once we get a good idea of how this all goes.

With the copyright laws, from what we've now found out. We do not need to be licenced. But we do need permission from the copyright holders to broadcast, which is not a hard thing to do. You'd send an e-mail to the label and ask to broadcast such and such song on our server. We'd just need to keep a record of these permissions. I believe we'd have to be very detailed in the song and artist to be played. I also believe you have to phyiscally own the CD/album to play it. We can't just go downloading music from whereever (cause that technically is illegal). The good thing is that once we have a relationship with a label they'd send us singles or demos they'd want us to play to get air time.

The big question that keeps coming up is cost. From what I have found out from wavestreaming.com we can get a streaming server that sends out 96k bit rate for 50 slots for under 90 bucks a month. Its a good bit rate to start at. If we become successful, we can extend our bit rates to having a low(dial up) server, a medium rate, and cd quality (high speed) server to make it available to everyone. So if we can find advertising for 90 bucks a month we can get started with the one server and if we become popular we can increase slot and the quality servers.

This is all looking pretty much possible, so stay tuned.

Apple and I already have a huge amount of radio experience, I personally have been running my own Irish radio station which has 40,000 listeners every morning between 8:00am and 11:30am. Also Apple knows a lot about the Animoos and the mangas so that's why we should get the job
