You get more of a chance to make stategies with your friends because most of the time you are playing against people who don't know each other. Even if you lose you can learn from the loss, theres always people out there who are better and whilst I don't like losing if I get beaten by better players I sometimes do what they did and see what happens. Some people go further and record replays and watch them. I don't but if you want to look back at what happened and see what you did wrong and what you can improve on its a great tool to have.
