Time Travel

If you write down some event/date and an action somewhere and you make sure you keep it forever no matter what. You can test if time travel has been invented and you have gotten access to it.

Do you mean you could "predict" that that could happen, or that you could prove time travel that way? That's just creating your future, technically, which we all do everyday through appointments or behaviors.

 

I've always thought of Time Travel as this sort of Highway, with exits and roads leading away from the highway, but all the roads lead to the end of the highway eventually (some big, unavoidable event for all "timelines").

If you'll have access to time travel in the future you'll remember that date and action. From there you could go back in time and do that action you said on that date. This would allow you to already have know if you invented time travel because that action would have been done already in the past. So when you do it in the future you already know its going to happen.

well, if future you does the action, past you wouldn't exactly know, as its 2 different versions of yourself. Past you would not have any memories of future you. Of course if you did this infront of past you, they would know that eventually time travel was invented, but would not remember doing the action.

Yes but that action you thought of exactly because if it happened you would know and realize its your future self doing it. That's why the event is not random but a chosen event you chose when also thinking of the date.

how would past you know that his future self did it without seeing your future self

You wouldn't know for sure but it would be the only explanation for it happening. Like let me give you an example:

 

You remember a date and time with the event of putting a sticky note on your pc that says :). If you go to bed wake up on the date and see there is a  sticky note on your pc you would know it was your future self.
