dolo Posted July 9, 2021 Content Count: 562 Joined: 04/05/20 Status: Offline Share Posted July 9, 2021 Valorant is a simpleton's game. The game in it's purest form can be more strategical. But tbh this game most of the time is all aim no brain. When the game is more strategic it's chaos, especially when you have someone's ability to just quickly flash anyone in the site because the way the sites are made it favors abilities and is way to open. And can we talk about how this games recoil patterns are just fucking random, like who tf thought of that at riot games. Now I want to talk about the stupidity in the map making. Icebox is a solid but weird map which I think many can agree with. The main way to get to b you can see the inspiration is of b site inferno with the banana. There is only one problem with this they have fucking abilities so characters like Jett, sage and, literally all the characters can get up there on sage wall this completely destroys the meaning of a banana because defenders usually can't fight for it. That part of the map is so crucial to the defenders to stop setups and to counter pushes towards b that it feels that to be reliable of icebox you have to gamble stack some times. Now this isn't the only problem I have with Icebox because, wtf is the meaning of 5 entrances into site. Mid can easily be split with smokes and can rush into b fast because the other b defender that usually sits closer towards apartments/heaven has to cover a view different angles at once while the 2 or even 1 defender(s) that is trying to hold down site as well can be overwhelmed. The complaints I have for others maps are miniature and don't contribute much towards the game. Now with breeze, I love it. I think it's one of the best maps to play right now. The only complaint I would have would be that B defenders sit 3 spots usually and can't really move around from some spots. But other than that this map is very very good. the layout for mid is nowhere near as AWP/OP sided as people think and it's very hard to split b which I think is a positive. A on the other hand is very complex and you can have different angles and there are many ways to get into site. Which actually makes sense in this map because of how open it actually is. Puting pressure on A is so important in this map and I have to say riot have crafted it perfectly. The far peak and the close peak are very good for attackers but the sites can be exploited by the defenders it's a beautiful combination of both advantages and depends on actual brain power and skill to win the round/game. Anyway I could put in how the pros that people respect so much couldn't preform on LAN, other than Hiko and Nitro these guys choke when there brain has to calculate 2+2. Thanks for reading my shitpost. 2 Link to comment

Thanks for reading my shitpost. Valorant as a whole is a game designed with agent abilities in mind, and yes the open map design is to compensate for agent abilities, for instance Skye being able to throw flashes high instead of a middle area or a Sova dart being able to be bounced to a high or low area. The game is very chaotic when things aren't going your way and this typically means you are getting stomped in game. You have to react faster and efficiently when dealing with coordinated pushes with abilities being the fulcrum of these pushes, remember that 90% of abilities outside ultimates are flashes/stuns smokes and nades with an exception of a few characters that riot introduced that have the ability to get visual information on whereabouts of players, heal or have critical movement abilities that obstruct or influence a players movements. Utilizing these every round is key in you and your teams success and honestly when you have a team that appreciates a good use of an ability it is incredibly easy to push and win on sites or in certain areas repeatedly. Riot and its fps map design is kinda cringe atm but breeze, icebox and ascent are the best maps in the game and are ironically the only ones that weren't at release. The design of these maps are made for open, long/close engagements and really have a nice flow during team play. Recoil is weird but understandable, it's based on a slightly random but similar pattern every time. What this means is that it will follow a line but not land exactly in the same spot every time which is a good thing. It requires players to compensate for aim but rewards good players that aim and kill with precision. Icebox long is interesting it feels as if you see a five man rushing you and someone is on green that it's impossible to hold yellow. Although I do believe better utility usage and switching things up is the key to defending areas effectively. Overall Valorant is still in its infancy and recent patch changes have made the game better and more interesting to play. Riot is a company that respects the players issues and does its best to fix them and improve. 6 Edited July 9, 2021 by Hawks Link to comment
