2 players are required and there is a map pool depending on the remaining players that are alive I believe. 20+ players will be optimal for a pretty good and fairly lengthy game(assuming people are competent/average at the game). 
 

I believe a good # of people is willing to show up especially  for any seeding/hype involved to the event.
