If I remember correctly, escape 2 (UK escape) had a pretty solid playerbase when it was around. VIP on the other hand always seemed half full and struggled to attract more people. We've tried a Team Fortress 2 server a couple of times and it never seems to hold its popularity for very long. A lot of people enjoyed it a great deal, so it's a surprise that it was almost always empty after the first couple of weeks. If it ever was done again I'd suggest making it a 24/7 2fort server, as we've yet to see how well that works out.

Never experienced this before, everytime I've played on Napalm during it's temperamental shift between existence and non-existence players have been relatively the same since it was first introduced.

Suffers the same fate everytime it is revived. It simply can't hold a playerbase like our current servers, it's popular for a while but is fated to die sooner or later.
