  10. "Repetitive idea"..? What..? Did you even read my post at all?
  11. Yes banning is too extreme, but the purpose of the example was to show that discretion is not a great idea. If one person posts and it gets laughs, whilst another does the exact same thing and gets ignored or whatever and then gets their post deleted, it's bound to generate issues. People in the past have bitched and moaned over the most asinine things for lord knows what reason, and having a clear ruling nips that issue in the bud. Any time throughout SG's history whereby people have been given some sort of chance to use common sense it has backfired and resulted in having to put forth precise definitions of what is and isn't allowed. If that's not the route you want to go then so be it. I hope I am wrong and you don't have to deal with that, but I highly doubt it. No, a dedicated thread would be the funny pictures thread so that all things of this nature can be funneled into there. I do not mean a thread for each and every picture 'type' people come across. If only it were that easy. Things such as these tend to leak...a lot. The reason for the previous ban on spiderman threads was that those pictures started appearing in almost every thread. People would be having a discussion and then out of nowhere someone would post the "Did someone say spiderman thread?" picture and from thereon after the thread would be completed derailed and eventually die because there was no point in continuing discussion. This isn't because of some dumb "no fun allowed xdd" attitude, but because idiots can't control themselves. I don't really see how they are similar other than there isn't much thought process going on when looking at them. Seeing what people in the community look like is interesting, and trying out new music doesn't really require discussion, because you just click a post, let it play and then listen. I'm not sure what parallels you are trying to draw. If these types of posts were to in fact be moved to the funny pictures thread I doubt there would be an issue with oversaturation. People discovering shibe or whatever are just fads, and they will pass like anything else. Sometimes they might need a helping hand, but they all die down eventually.
  12. Each of those you mentioned actually contributes something worthwhile though. The post pictures of yourself thread allows people to see what everyone looks like, and the what are you listening to right now thread allows people to check out new music. The only one out of your examples I can see presenting a slight issue would be the funny pictures thread, but at least it's all in one place, whereby the broad subjective spectrum of what constitutes something as being funny leaves it very open. In other words, I could understand this doge stuff and spiderman pictures being posted there (even en masse), but dedicating a thread to each of these 'jokes' just seems stupid. Hell at least half the stuff in that sticky has a punchline, whereas this is just "lol doge xdddd" over and over. Consistency is an extremely important issue among a community that is prone to blowing things out of proportion. Any time there have been issues regarding admin discretion there has always been instances of chronic whining, and unless the people moderating want to deal with that there needs to be a very clear cut ruling on the matter. I'm neither here nor there regarding a spam sub-forum. I couldn't care less if this shit is contained within a sub-forum or within dedicated threads, but either one seems to be an acceptable middle-ground regarding the issue, so long as it doesn't start leaking into other shit.
  13. I never brought up your stance regarding spiderman posts at all. I stated that they were banned, but that XeNo has addressed them in a manner which is consistent, hence why this thread and this thing still exist. I simply stated that whether they are allowed or not, I view them as cancerous material and I provided reasons for why I feel that way. Perhaps instead of editing your quotations of me you should leave them as they are? That way you won't get confused as to what I'm arguing for whilst you're typing. Again, you are mistaking 'off-topic' for shitposting. Threads like these are purely so people can spam. Whether it brings amusement or not makes no difference as to whether they are shitposts or not. I recall their being a suggestion for a "Spam" sub-forum, where threads such as these could be contained and you could be free to do whatever. It was shot down pretty hard as being one of the most retarded ideas ever put forward, since people would merely abuse it for post count and - get this - it wouldn't provide us with anything worthwhile. Then I hope I've made it clear why I view threads like these as shitposting. If I had to guess, if someone went around multiple threads typing "lol!", "omg i laughed so hard xdd" or "that was so cool!" then you would label that as shitposting. Whereas you feel these threads at least provide some form of entertainment (regardless of how stupid it is), and should therefore be acceptable. I understand the sentiment there, but don't agree with it. This is good, as it draws a line. Like I said, cancerous shit like this spreads due to a lack of moderation, so as long as it doesn't fuck up other threads (even those in OTF), there is at least some form of containment. The issue I see here is moderators 'choosing' to take action on such matters. If one person posts a spiderman picture in one thread and nothing happens (maybe it's in a less-viewed sub-forum for example), then when someone posts the same thing in another thread and gets banned there is going to be bitching. I would suggest coming up with some sort of definitive ruling on the matter to avoid issues such as these, but ultimately it's up to you.
  14. It invalidates it because similar things are banned, such as spiderman threads. I actually used to enjoy spiderman threads but I can see why action was taken to prohibit them, because in all honestly they were stupid as fuck and the novelty wore off very, very quickly. If those moderating seek to allow this doge stuff then spiderman threads should be just as acceptable, and Xeno has already said this. I commend him for his consistency towards the matter, but I'm simply of the opinion that these types of things are cancer to the community. Just because these things are popular doesn't make them any less fucking retarded. In most cases 'cancerous' shit actually comes along due to a lack of moderation and allowing the majority to decide what should and shouldn't be acceptable. Threads like these contribute nothing and discuss nothing, which is why I feel they should be treated in the same way spiderman threads were. Them being allowed or banned is irrelevant as to whether they are cancerous material or not.
  15. Except that the 'humour' in this case is to shitpost.
  16. Off-topic is not synonymous with shitposting.
  17. Well, now that you're here I guess it has.
  18. This thread is cancer of the highest degree.

  24. Uh, that's kinda completely off point but sure I guess? I was just trying to explain why posting an admin complaint in this situation is essentially pointless. Well discussions develop. This entire thread's purpose is to appeal to someone in a high enough position to actually do something, and Caution falls into that category. If Connor feels that Caution isn't listening to any sort of reasoning that's pro-morbus and is allegedly resorting to throwing his weight around, then obviously Caution is going to have to defend himself. That's simply the way the discussion moves forward. People are still discussing the main topic anyway (e.g. the potential to change game modes on one server), so I'm not sure where the problem is.
  25. I don't think an admin complaint would really be a viable option here. There has always been a huge disparity between what higher ups are allowed to get away with and what players are allowed to get away with. It's a blatant flaw in the system that has been around since the beginning of SG in all honesty. The heated discourse between you and Connor seem to be an effect of that, and is why the impression being given off simply due to your position is a negative one.
