  8. Do not jump to such conclusions. Based off the mathematical theory of probability, the probability that God's existence is indeed real is extremely high. The same theory (It had obviously been adapted for use of God's existence) was primarily used to determine whether there is other intelligent life out there in the universe besides we humans and it was concluded that there was undoubtedly 'aliens' out there purely through mathematical reasoning. It was nice of you to try and turn the tables on me with this 'close-minded' stuff, I'm flattered. Of course religious people are more open-minded. No, you couldn't say that athiests are open-minded enough to accept the possibility of evolutionism. Evolutionism stemmed from the science of biology, and since science is the study of what we determine to be 'facts', then there is little to no faith involved. A religious person by definition is not someone who denies the theory of evolutionism, as Slavic has already stated before me. Turning to insults isn't going to get you very far in philosophical discussion, just a heads up. I was not making refference to you in this quote. However if you want me to respond, whether the definition is legitimate or not in your mind is your own comprehension and as I have said before, I am not here to 'convert' you to my way of thinking, I am here purely for discussion purposes. Please don't go all defensive and start lashing out with insults, I thought that you would be mature enough to handle it. It has been a really interesting discussion so far so keep it up.
  9. I look forward to seeing the children!

  10. Failed CT's

    Wow those Cts fail epicly.
  11. Religion has not been manipulated at all so that it is impossible to disprove. You just simply can't. Don't try to cover your tracks by making referrence purely to Christianity. The existence of God cannot be proven nor disproven. Also, of course people want to believe in a God, but don't be so narrow-minded to see that as being the sole reason they do. People believe in a greater being because of the overwhelming probability that there is; because they have obviously not shut their minds off to deeper contemplations of their own existence. They are open-minded enough to accept that there possibly is a God. Even agnostics have an open enough mind to accept the possibility. I don't want to offend anyone, but I personally do not see the logical reasoning behind being an Athiest. An Athiest by definition is someone who denys the existence of a God. This means that they completely disregard any possibility that there is an existence beyond their own comprehension. There is a famous quote which would get my point across but I cannot remember the person's name... I'll look it up later. If you are going to start a flame war, please leave. People here are trying to have a discussion and we don't need you starting anything off, thanks. Scientific proof cannot rule anything out, because by God's very definition, he himself and anything related to him does not have to abide by the laws of science.

  15. Who did you mug to get enough money for admin again?

  16. Again you are taking a naive stance on this. Religion isn't a bunch of people "Hoping for the best". Religion is a way people can consolodate their own personal questions about life and what its purpose may entail. You are belittling religion's significance with respect to its relationship to our existence. Note: Do not go down the path of "If God exists, prove it". This isn't a good idea as it leads to the debate that states God's existence can be neither proven nor disproven, this will eventually deteriorate into insults because people try to sway other's opinions to their own. People have their own opinions and one must respect that, but please don't bring up the "proof" word because it will lead to a lot of tension.
  17. Effect is a noun. (Example: "That's the kind of effect alcohol has") Affect is a verb. (Example: "Alcohol affects your judgment")
  18. I'm a Catholic. My intention wasn't to prove religion, but to try and make you understand that it has stemmed from our self-awareness. Science is the study of knowledge, and one can only obtain knowledge from facts, that is why science is heavily reliant on facts. However religion is the belief in something which is greater than oneself and/or exists outside of your reality. In contrast, religion is based upon faith. Faith is when someone believes they know something when there is no evidence or facts to prove against or otherwise. You say you possess no naivety towards religion, but you believe that a statement can be made and it instantly becomes fact if it were religious? As Einstein once said "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind". Your personal experiences with religion are your own, and for arguments sake I'm going to keep my references within generalisability. However, why can you not take religion seriously? Religion is the thought of one's own existence, a greater being than we humans, and our purpose in life. Are they not valid queries to which religion tries to place answers to?
  19. Hypocrisy is when someone says or does something which contradicts their beliefs or values.
