    Well if an asteroid hit earth enough to mess up the orbit I think that asteroid would have to be so big that it would destroy the planet into millions of pieces. Around the size or Mars is what I'd think. But as far as altered orbits. One way to think of it is, do you think time is different on Mercury? Its orbit is roughly 3 months. The simple answer is no. The speed difference would show "negligable" boosts. But if our orbit shortens, that also means our planet would heat up as well, so we'd noticed alot more than just shorter years. Now millions, possibily, billions of years from now when our Sun starts to turn into a red giant star; our orbit is predicted to increase due to the unstable gravity of the Sun. Now this would happen subtlely and this increase will actually help the planet when the sun goes through its Red Giant phase as it will serve as a warning to clear out from the solar system because the Sun will go supernova soon. (In fact I am kinda writing a short story about this same subject so I'll let you know when I get it somewhat done.) As far as reletivity, you have to get really, really close to speed of light for time to dialate. And at that rate, you really wouldn't notice a difference. Thats the weirdness of Einstien's reletivity. The simplest way to explain, time only dilates for the people who would travel near the speed of light and they really wouldn't notice that time slowed. Its the twin rocket senario. One twin leaves earth at near the speed of light goes 10 light years out and comes back. To him it has only been about 20 years. But for his twin on earth that trip actually took 80 years. So time for us would not really change.
