1. Mission accomplished But you two still haven't told me why people can't discuss like this ;)
2. Sure. But, to that extent, why doesn't that happen elsewhere? Why in so many threads are there people who stubbornly plant their feet in one position and throw feces at each other from those standpoints? (Not a reference at all to you, Psyche, King, Determined, drox, etc.)
3. I was going to +rep you again for your intellect (my nose is so brown, innit?), but it told me that I've been giving too much.

:p

4. You're one of the very people that I'm talking about when I criticize the lack of mature discussion. Get the fuck out of this thread.
5. Both. I said you can discuss stuff. I asked Caution why others in this community are so unable to discuss problems/things maturely, coherently, and in a well-written manner whereas you (Drox), Caution, and I (Chêvouÿx/Avro) can. I'm "dragging" people into that group because I continue to see threads who present a problem so poorly that it neither helps their case nor improves anything. I'm "dragging" people into that group because, perhaps if they learn to look introspectively before posting, the community will actually improve and be able to more efficiently fix itself (as a "functioning forum of minds and gathering of fun") rather than having to deal with stuff like "omg i lost my admin its personnel nao". I already know most higher-ups aren't like that. It just boggles my mind when I see either side be so stubborn that the ability to discuss as a forum is thrown out the window or when I see either side call each other stupid/dumb.
6. But, see, why can't people respond to topics like your reply? Why are so many people unable to learn from others' and their own mistakes from the past? Why are we so willing to just say "lol, you're stupid, you know nothing" and then lock the thread? I know and acknowledge that some threads are just going to hit a point where they need to be locked, but the threads to which I'm referring are not the sole examples. Simply explain to me why the majority can't discuss like you, Drox, and I have in this thread and I'll shut the fuck up.
7. But I wasn't referring to you or a few others. I was only referring to a special handful that consistently do that stuff
8. I'm fairly certain that the threads were locked because it became evident that nothing could be maturely discussed in public. If people are going to make this a pissing contest like the other two, then this thread should be locked. But why can't SG handle a mature conversation? Moreover, though, this is more an appeal to conveying ideas better and conducting better discussions than to human nature or lack thereof. No one should have to worry about PMing when we as a community could (albeit, probably can't) handle this stuff as the actual (young) adults that we are. I know people are going to claim that I'm just spilling fuel into the fire, but, as I said, that's not what I'm intending. What I want is for people to explain and discuss why we as a community are so willing to cry, aimlessly criticize, and lock threads when we could so easily discuss our problems reasonably without issue. I do not want people to come into this thread just to blame, call names, and make themselves dicks. If this thread becomes an opportunity for people to +1 and say "lol, you're stupid", then I want it to be locked.
9. Because I'm less interested in burning the same fire and more interested in making a new campfire where it's explained why people are dumb and continue to not learn the same repeated lesson. At least to my credit, I'm not pouting or typing willy-nilly. I know it'll unfortunately be taken as such, but I'm not intending this to be a "look-at-him-he's-an-idiot-trololol" thread. Instead, I want to this to be a legitimate new-campfire discussion on why people refuse to learn and conduct themselves in a way that would make their educational system at least half proud.
10. *New chapter of this thread initiating...* I come on the forums today and I find two long, dramatic, qq-ing threads that have no bearing whatsoever. Neither has proof or even a well-written introduction, and the mere reasons which the authors used for justification are just shameful. How do some in this community legitimately expect others to listen when they are: pointlessly ranting because shit became personal all of a sudden? writing with such shitty punctuation that their flow-of-conscious style makes it hard to understand what they want to convey? whining about the same shit that they always whine about? talking about something that is being done without any maturity? unable to clearly explain why people should care? unwilling to give a little for compromise and expect the higher-ups to cater to all of their needs? I understand that it's hypocritical of me to sit here and bitch about the bitchers, but it's clear that people need a reality check when they're running around in circles, moaning like immature schoolchildren, and can't produce quality opinions without throwing their own feces around the place like monkeys. Discuss.
11. quiting SG

Oh so true.
12. Es gibt ein Problem: ich hab mich geirrt, weil mein wahrer Geburstag am 16. November ist.

Aber, ja, danke. Endlich werde ich heute 16 wie du :p

13. At first, I thought Harry was KennyG or is a friend of KennyG. But now, I understand: he's not just someone who greatly likes anime, hentai, and the like, but is also a furry who pretends to know something about firearms. I see a pattern.
14. Update: http://diacriticalproposal.blogspot.com/2010/11/quick-alternative-digraphs-with-acute.html
15. I found this earlier today and it cracked me up. It'd be an awesome song to play when you're high, especially during the first few minutes.
16. Ich bin gar nicht Awacs. Du wirst bald genug meinen echten Name kennen.

17. Caution

On behalf of the Great State of California: Yes, he will. May you two enjoy the full benefits of a civil union!
18. Naja, ich wollte eigentlich dich fragen: Warum hast du mich gefragt, wer ich bin?

21. Who am I? Who are you?

22. Do explain how phonetic spelling would make the language worse
23. Yeah, it's littered with some poor grammar and typos. I made that post late at night and haven't yet been willing to go through to change all the errors. Any comments on the topic at hand, oh wise Mr. Penguin? :]
24. Personally, I feel that the "looks" of a language is a fucking terrible reason to not want reform. Now, if you don't like the diacritics, that's understandable; English-speakers seem to have some irrational fear of it, so I understand. In place of diacritics, though, there's only other solution in my opinion: double vowels (as Dutch uses). Otherwise, you'll have to deal with the crazy new letters that others have suggested over the decades. At least with the system I've rough-drafted, the only change is diacritics (not including the Ðð) and not some wacky new symbol; people would still be able to recognize their good, ol' English alphabet but with some extra markings. Furthermore, you should remember that English doesn't apply solely to the U.S., the U.K., or Canada. There are other nations who natively speak English and pronounce words differently than you. (E.g., educate as /ˈedʒ.ju.keɪt/ or /ˈed.u.keɪt/) Thus, the reforms who propose to spell words like the North Americans way are simply unaware and wouldn't function well in my mind. The system I have worked out so far is set up for such differences. Mostly, I want to come up with a system that allows for not just standardization but also for regions to spell their dialect. If Schwiizerdüütsch can spell itself differently from Hochdeutsch, why couldn't British English from American English? English can easily copy German in that there could be a standard formal language (Hochdeutsch) that's used internationally and in school (etc.) and informal dialects with their own way of spelling that still use the same phonetic rules as the formal language. Now, answer me this, Kiwi: do you want to have a system like this? Do you see the new letters you'd have to learn to write? Do you see how it might be easier to write diacritics or double vowels?
