  1. So my birthday is coming up in May 7th, and I've been using this standard HP mouse for a while, ever since I built my desktop in September of last year. I asked some people if I should get a keyboard or a mouse for my birthday, they said get a mouse, which I assumed, I was just checking and making sure I'm doing the right thing. So, yeah, I need a mouse. One preferably for gaming, it doesn't have to be, but y'know, I do a lot of gaming on this computer and want something to possible improve my gameplay maybe? Give me your suggestions, please. Also, thanks in advanced for anyone who helps me out.
  2. Wow! Extremely good system! Some things are unnecessary in my opinion, such as the 16GB, especially for gaming. For gaming, I suggest 8GB. It's the perfect amount. But that extra 8GB you're looking for is always good, too. Good GPU choice, I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 and it's been doing me good a lot in games such as Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield Hardline. Y'know, some of the intensive games. My GPU is able to run all of those games at the highest settings at 1080p with about 60 - 120fps. Not dipping too much. But with that 980 of yours, it'll demolish any game you'll play I bet. Very good choice for your CPU, as well. The i5 is perfect for gaming. You don't even need an i7 for gaming, even though I have one, lol. I upgraded from an i5-4760k @ 3.4Ghz and when I upgraded to an i7-4790 @ 3.6Ghz, it showed a small difference in gaming. But, yes, the CPU you've picked is very good. Power supply seems good. Not sure if you'll need 750 watts, though. But it does sound right to me. But just to be sure, check out this power supply calculator. It's not 100% accurate but it'll let you know the basic amount of wattage you'll need. But if you're not too sure still, just go with the 750w PSU, it sounds about right, if not that then it's MORE than enough, lol. I think the SSD you selected is a good choice. If you're not sure if you should get a bigger SSD or not, then just think about how much you want to put on the SSD. If it's a lot, then obviously get a bigger SSD. Everything else seems good. Good selection of components. You'll be very please with this build. Especially the "Battlefield 4 experience." Good job.
  3. Good GPU choice. I have the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 and it's extremely good. I don't need to SLI to do most of my gaming with. Like, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, those really intensive games, I have no problem running them with the 970. I never dip below, what, 40 - 50fps? Probably an average of, like, 90 - 115fps all the time in 1080p. You'll have no problem playing any game you wish to on Maximum settings at 1080p. Just like ercxzz said, stick with an i5, I actually have an i7 but it doesn't really do anything more gaming-wise than what an i5 could do. Just stick with it. Very good monitor. I have a BenQ 24" XL24II and it's 144Hz. You can really notice the difference from 60Hz once you're on a 144Hz. But only for a little bit. You won't start to notice it as much anymore when you get used to it, of course. But, yes, you'll still love 60Hz. And, again, agreeing with ercxzz about the power supply, just get a 600W psu. That's what I have, and I've had absolutely no problems with it. Anyways, very good system overall. You won't have any problems with running most of the games you play at max settings at 1080p. You're gonna love it.
  4. F to pay respects.
  5. That's a very good idea. I'm a Silver 1 since my computer has problems with CSGO. Anyways, hopefully, like Superkiller said... , will be true.
  6. Patriots - 23 Redskins - 6 So, um, Redskins fans, what do you have to say?
  7. Congratulations Potatoes, Dirk, and ShoieP.
  8. I'm listening to "Toxic" - Blowsight. I understand this thread is 6 years-old, but whatever.
  9. Good luck to everyone who entered.
  10. Colts Even though Manning left, that didn't stop me from loving the Colts. But I'd root for the Broncos any day.
  11. Thank you all for the answers. I've also tried so many things to fix Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Updated all my video card drivers, motherboard drivers, my OS seems up-to-date. I've looked on Valve forums if anyone has had the same issue, but nothing seems to be working. I'm not entirely sure what to do.
  12. I got my computer working and I am looking for a operating system that will play games like Battlefield 4, Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DayZ Standalone, Team Fortress 2, etc. I was thinking about a version of Windows 7 but I'm just not sure. I currently have Windows 8.1 and have some pretty bad problems with some games with it that I didn't have before I got Windows 8.1. Also, what OS do you guys have and does it work well with games that are mentioned above? Thank you for reading this, goodbye.
  13. Nevermind, everyone, I got it working. I ordered another motherboard since the last one was shipped broken. Thanks for everyone who worked with me here.
  14. I joined steam sometime in 2013. One of my good friends on PlayStation Network recommended Steam to me. He explained to me what it was and it sounded pretty cool to me, so I got an account. As for my first game on Steam, I actually didn't purchase myself. My friend got me the package that came with Garry's Mod and Counter-Strike: Source, I enjoy them both. But I'd play Counter-Strike over Garry's Mod any day. I know this wasn't asked, but I wanted to tell people how I found out about the Steam Gamer's community. So, when I joined Counter-Strike, I went on the server list and saw this "Jail Break" gamemode. It wasn't the Steam Gamer's jail break server, but I joined it and it was extremely fun. But the people there were annoying and stupid as hell. So I was searching through the server list for other jail break servers, and one caught my eye since it looked like this: "///Jail Break\\\." So I joined at had a great time. Majority of my CS:Source hours are spent on SG Jail Break. I actually remember freekilling a dude that wasn't inside a disco, since those were the orders, and didn't warning shot. No admins were on so I got away with it. :3 I played more and more and I met this one person who was extremely nice, Extreme Potatoes. I added him as my friend and he told me to join the community, and he had to tell me step-by-step how to. I probably wouldn't of have had been a part of Steam Gamers right now if it wasn't for Potatoes. Thanks, Extreme Potatoes. :3
  15. Okay, so here I am updating you again about this. I was messing around with it and I finally got it to show some on-screen information on the monitor. But on the monitor, it said this exactly: "Over Current has been detected on your USB device ! System will shut down after 15 seconds to protect your mainboard !" By 'mainboard' I suppose they mean the motherboard. So I looked at some forums about people who had the same information pop up on their screen, and I found this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/314200-30-device-current-status-detected-shut-seconds They said, to whoever was also having the problem, to look at their motherboard and disconnect the USB cords that were connected into their case and disconnect them. I'm not sure what to do after that, but I did it and now I powered it back on and it has the same information on the screen as last time. Got any suggestions this time? :/
  16. Damn, a broken CPU is the last thing I wanted to hear. But I want to be 100% sure about this. I'll keep looking before I go out and buy another CPU. I also did look up some beep codes for my motherboard, and I counted approximately 6 short beeps. The page I saw said that that meant it was either a bad motherboard or CPU, I guess it is the CPU. But, like I said, I'll keep looking to see if anything else is the problem.
  17. Oh, God, not another one. *Trollface*

  18. Erm, nevermind, got the new motherboard today and it's doing the same exact problem. I have no idea what is going on. Should I put in an optical drive with the CD that came with the motherboard upon boot-up? Also, when I turn it on, no beep, it will stay on for a couple of seconds, then it'll shut off. Not sure what it is.

  20. This is for the players on prison break who like to shoot around the Terrorist's head as a Counter-Terrorist: Please stop. Now I know that some people do it because it's fun, but most of the time when that happens to me, I get killed. Some CT earlier today told me to "stand still" whilst holding an Awp and they said "Don't move so I can shoot in between your legs." And I didn't want to move since I had very low hp and didn't want to risk being shot and killed. I was already risking my life because they were going to shoot me anyways to see if they could shoot a bullet between my legs. I wasn't sure what to do in that situation. But for people who are on CT and like to shoot around or near a Terrorist, please don't. Because majority of the times, in my experience, I die because of it. And it's a pain to sit through the entire rest of the round. So please don't.
  21. That was the exact problem. I completely fried my motherboard because I wasn't using the standoffs. I guess this thread can now close.
  22. To keep you updated, my EVGA 80+ Bronze 600w Power Supply came today. I plugged it in, and still has the same problem as my last one did. But when I was doing the internal-build, I powered it on and a spark came out of the top-right corner of the motherboard. NEAR the top-right corner I should say. I looked up the beep codes for my motherboard and once I plugged everything into the motherboard, I powered it on and still has the same beeps as the last one did with the 500w Power Supply. Once I looked up the beep codes, I powered on my system, heard 6 very short beeps, took me a while to count how many since they were going so fast. But, yes, I counted 6, looked on the beep codes, and saw this: "6 beeps - 8042 gate A20 failure - bad cpu or mainboard" So I guess that means bad processor and/or bad motherboard? I'm pretty positive it's the motherboard now because there were sparks.
