I have no experience with the 930 since I bought the 920 when they were only three i7s, and this build isn't now, it will probably be later around November when prices settle. Besides, the advantages of the 980 is # of cores, not core speed since it's still Nehalem.

I've been putting parts together for an ideal workstation. Here's what I like so far: Motherboard: EVGA Classified SR-2 CPU: 2x Intel Core i7-980X Memory:4x Corsair DDR3 2000 3x2Gb Hard Drive: [boot Drive]:Intel X25-E [storage Drive]:RamSan-500 GPU: 4x EVGA GTX 480 (will replace with 495 if those are released shortly at reasonable prices) PSU: 2x Corsair 1000HX about $309,000 though I am not buying the RamSan that's too much

yes TRUE is always a reliable choice, and it fits with all standard ATX boards for sure

88xx cards are hard to find since they arent in production anymore, and if you end up getting one, it will probably be a used one As for a processor, I run a OC'd i7 920 at 4.01GHz. The 9800GT saves you $$ if your PSU can't handle a high-end GPU.

Intel E7400 + 9800GT will get you good fps for a cheap price. It will probably do ~200fps in CSS at 1024x768 with high settings. Only go Core i7 if you're willing to build an entirely new pc and spend-a-lot. Might as well buy a GTX295 then for an i7.

i recommend forming a cluster if you really want processing speed anyways, yes thats a decent quad-core for a reasonable price but are you sure you dont want a higher-up motherboard, since the motherboard is really the only thing that may stay when upgrading parts in the future it is decent

wth are you talking about sata power plugs 4pin molex?? just hotwire the damn thing ~but yes it is a sata power plug, im sure you could have figured that out just by looking at the power cord and the drive, or by reading the instructions, etc etc, but if this turned out to be a bit hard for you to understand without resorting to asking, you may want to lay off the pc gadgets and just take it to best buy and get overcharged maybe by three-fold or more

thats because you have a quad core cpu-z can only run on 1 core at a time, so if you just run cpu-z normall, it will always run on core 1 (called core 0) to be able to see all cores, create 4 shortcuts on ur desktop to cpuz, and then in each of their properties, add to the target line -core=0 (which means core 1), and -core=1 (which means core 2) and so on but yes it is underclocked, though you could also disabled its extra core if you have no use for that speed, which brings the question of why you bought it in the first place
