As you probably surmised from the title of this thread, my time to step down has come. I could sit here and write a five page essay about the recent events in my life leading me to make this decision, but I'm sure none of you care enough to hear me complain for that long. If you really are interested, just message me. Depending on who you are might change how much I tell you but I certainly won't turn anyone down. Instead, I'll opt to document my journey through SG in one post, albeit a post that is probably going to be just as long as the issues I'm trying to avoid
Anyways, for a long time SG has been like a second family to me. I always knew that no matter what happened anywhere else, I could come to SG and rely on the people here to make to have some fun. I first played SG servers sometime from 2012-2013 in the source mini-games and deathrun servers when I was 12. I somehow racked up nearly 500 hours in SG servers alone when I was 12. I honestly don't remember why I stopped playing source, but when I tried to pick it back up again the servers were nonexistent so I had moved on to CSGO, completely unaware of the fate of these servers. Almost a year and a half ago I was browsing through the CSGO server browser and fate would happen to allow me to see a server labeled "Steam-gamers". Was this the same server I had played on years ago? With my curiosity peaked, I visited the forums and found my old account "Ghost Titanium" It was the same server.
From that point forward, at least half of my free time each day was spent in our servers, mostly jailbreak. After a month or two, I made a forums account at the beginning of 2016. I went ham on those player complaints (you're welcome black rain and leon) and became an upstanding member of the community. It probably came as no surprise to anyone when, the day I met the requirements, I applied for admin on the 9th of April, 2016. At the ripe age of 15 I was granted admin and given access to a whole load of command at my disposal for helping to make the servers a better place.
I took this privilege of admin, yes it's a privilege, incredibly seriously and dedicated 90% of my time to our servers. It did not take long for the higher ups to notice my dedication and, up until this point, I was a pretty good admin. Because of this, the higher up team decided to give me CA in August of 2016. Soon after receiving CA, school had started and I was no longer a freshman. I had to adjust to taking multiple AP classes which can, at times, take-up a substantial amount of time. I never was completely inactive, but I started playing less and less. To be honest, the mixture of being somewhat bored of playing JB and TTT everyday of every week plus my schoolwork started to demotivate me to play. I became mostly inactive, but always hopped on every other day or so to make sure I didn't fall out of relevancy. After getting the grips of school, I came back to our servers and started playing actively again and participating on the forums when an important thread came up. Not long after, some slots for AO were opened up and in December of 2017 I was promoted to AO.
I was available almost 24/7 with the exception of during school and quickly learned the ropes of how to AO. The first month or two went by mostly fine. I did what was expected of me for my server and ported a few maps along the way. Recently, within the last month and a half, my activity has all but vanished. I usually only get on for a specific reason. There's a whole list of reasons as to why this is, but as aforementioned, I'd rather not get into all of that here for it is far too long to explain in detail. MG and 1v1 have all but been neglected recently, which is unfair to its players and also unfair to the AO's who have to put up with my shit and pitch in to cover my slack. Because of this, it is time for me to resign. To each of the people I know on I personal basis, thank you for making my time here some of the best of my life. To everyone else, I'm sorry I couldn't get to know you, but I also thank you for your time you spent with SG. I expect to see this community thriving 10 years down the line.
Here's to SG!
