  1. The thread itself makes no sense. [s-G] is not a valid tag for admins to use when utilizing their powers, that doesn't mean you're allowed to use it. Tags similar to ours aren't allowed. I didn't bother reading many of the other responses here because this is not complicated whatsoever.
  2. People were supposed to get prizes for winning. @Prez @Black Rain
  3. @Brian @Montag where's the thread yo
  4. I don't feel as though I've come up with the absolute best way to implement forced death-games into the server, but I'd like to once again bring it to the table. I was playing Jailbreak and realized that my view on this isn't very objective as SG is the only JB server I've ever played. I've never tried looking at it from a different perspective of someone joining into the server for the first time and playing with our server's style of JB, that being fast paced rebellion. I honestly think lots of people probably look at it as boring and repetitive. I, too, have sort of come to the conclusion that this also might be why JB has become stale to me. I'm not saying forced death-games is the absolute solution to this but I am saying it's a place to possibly start. In my opinion, the main problem that comes up when trying to think of a way to implement this is how easy it is to be abused. Goku's attempt at adding forced death-games to the server was a prime example when @Caution and @delirium played devil's advocate with the rule set. Rules need to be extensive and thought out properly. While dropping a whole new set of rules onto the server isn't great, it's necessary considering what a radical change it is and how it will greatly effect gameplay. Just to sort of drop something off the top of my head: CTs cannot force a death-game when there are 6 or less Ts alive to prevent every single T from dying to a death-game. CTs must cease the death-game if it gets to this number. CTs cannot force a death-game after the clock hits 2:30 to prevent them taking the entire round. CTs can only force map made death-games to ensure both objectiveness and fairness. The map made death-game must give the Ts a chance to live. CTs can only force one death-game per round. There's undoubtedly flaws within these, but it's something to start with. One major problem I saw with Goku's attempt at this was the lack of time for the rules to ferment. If our racism rule was changed, you'd probably have quite a few people dropping the n word in the first few days, then it'd probably die down. I think, while there isn't exactly a way to combat it, when the rule was changed people freaked out which caused panic among higher ups. Maybe there is a way to lay this down slower than just dropping the entire rule set, maybe there isn't. I do think this is something that should be taken into account though. I think adding death-games in some way, shape, or form will bring a new aspect to the server that will appeal to newer players and eventually be picked up by current ones. When players migrate from other Jailbreak servers, they probably expect death-games as it plays a big part in other servers. I do believe our current regulars will disagree because of the play style that has been etched into their brains but I think it will catch on. Like I mentioned earlier, I think it just needs to be given time and it will eventually become a normal part of our server. Recently we've gotten more population, most likely from F2P but it could also be coming from other communities not really being played at anymore. I think this is as good a time as ever to implement something like this. Right now, Jailbreak really is just deathmatch. CTs give orders, Ts rebel against them and have shootouts. I don't dislike this nor do I necessarily like it as this point, but calling it a deathmatch seems pretty fair to me. I understand this has worked for us, but I do feel like something could be working better. Looking from the outside in I can understand why people might not like how it is. Simply put, right now it's not fun to be a CT. Despite whether or not you're good at it, you can see by the win ratios that they're constantly losing. Being a good CT that gives entertaining orders on our server isn't particularly easy since it sounds extremely repetitive to say "go here, go there". Oftentimes CTs will just resort to giving freedays, ultimately making them lose even faster by giving free reign to the Ts. On other servers freedays are not given as often and it really is just the Ts walking around, finding guns and shooting the CTs. It actually completely ruins the rush of rebelling while the CTs give orders. I am not trying to say we should be like other servers and I'm not trying to say we need to make some radical change to become successful but it's something to consider. I know wanting to add forced death-games is an extremely unpopular opinion but I think it's worth discussing. Sorry if it seems like a rant but I'm really just trying to give food for thought. Hope this helps in some way and I'd encourage everyone to post their opinion.
  5. Sounds like a fix to me.
  6. Isn't there a !hide command that makes it so you can't see other players? Perhaps that plugin can be edited so when you do it you don't hear the gun shots from other people. Or, like the OP suggests, the stopsound command that makes it so you can't hear shots, but then you'd still have the animation when someone shoots in your face. Combining the stopsound into the hide thing would probably be best though.
  7. It was mentioned here, it seems the fix that was given didn't work. @Wawa
  8. JB doesn't have anything similar to automatic mutes. I think you're talking about Comm Bans which was removed from TTT.
  9. sv_prime_accounts_only 1 This command should be enabled on most of the servers. ZE is an exception, Bhop and Surf are debatable, should probably be left up to the managers. There are positives and negatives to having it enabled of course. The obvious reason this should be enabled is to combat ban evaders and cheaters. There's already been a few cases where one person continuously comes back on an alt account and nothing has been done to stop them. There's already been a case where someone is using cheats while ban evading, ultimately completely ruining everyone's time. It's only been a month and a half since F2P came out and this is bound to continue and perhaps even accelerate. The negative side to having it enabled is the loss of potential population. There's a chance that it could decrease our current population but I don't think this outweighs the positives. Allowing cheaters to continue to flood in will harm to level of enjoyment the servers offer. Admins won't always be on and people won't always make player complaints. This is how it was before obviously, but not enabling the command allows this to happen at a much higher rate. I think enabling the command is the best path to take. Our servers are doing extremely well, it's not as if we're in desperate need of population. The effect it would have on the population might even be exaggerated. At the very least we should test it out, if it has a significantly bad effect it's easily reversible.
  10. No other solution is being brought forward and this is the only way you'll be able to prevent this guy from getting on the servers again.
  11. Sacrificing a slightly larger population so that we don't have a cheater on the server 24/7 seems like the best solution.
  12. 1) Someone locking onto people's heads is still using cheats. 2) Cheating is an instant ban, they shouldn't be kicked. 3) Bhop scripting isn't an instant ban, it's warn then ban.
  13. Found the fix. sv_prime_accounts_only 1
  14. TeamSpeak

Look at @Gator, already making a positive impact.
  15. That's a really good idea but that wasn't how I interpreted the post. I think both are necessary though, the Ts being able to mute Ts client side and the CTs being able to mute Ts server side.
  16. Ts muting other Ts? How would that work?
  17. Both versions are on the server and both versions are played a ton, so both should stay. This version is the 14th most played map on the server. It's the same thing with having maps similar to razor on the server, they're all played a lot so they should stay.
  18. Yeah, I agree. https://www.steam-gamers.net/forum/showthread.php?t=83490 Something to work off of or straight up follow.
  19. Even though it may not completely alter the outcome of a decision, your opinion as someone who regularly plays the servers is pretty high in value and definitely one worth taking into consideration when deciding on things like this.
  20. Anything can happen.
  21. "When cell doors open face the back of your cell, crouch and freeze" is not an unreasonable order. That order is completely clear and easy to understand. Just because it's similar to a different frequented order on our server doesn't mean it's not allowed. I don't think a rewording is necessary, the "meant to confuse or trick" part is necessary for other cases. There's no way to justify calling that unreasonable though. You can't determine their intention, so there's no way to justify punishment. On the topic of requiring a CT to repeat orders though, there's no reason for that. It's only a reasonable order if you're able to clearly understand it, otherwise if you didn't hear it it's your fault for not paying attention. No point in putting the extra work onto the CTs.
  22. hello there! you seem cool, haha. hope we can get to know each other! cya around!! :)

  23. You're making arguments about the person saying it when that's not the logic behind disallowing it. I want to listen to a song, but it has the n word in it. I can't go in and edit the song real quick in order to listen to it, whereas I can easily avoid saying it myself. There's no logical reason that someone should be allowed to say the n word because it's in the song, but there's plenty of logic behind the fact that lots of songs have the n word in them and people want to listen to them anyways. There's no way to determine if someone is "abusing" it so the best option is to just not allow it all. Also @Gator something should probably be said in the official Surf rules thread about your change to compete with other servers. I think the logic behind it is somewhat sound but it would just make sense that it goes in the rules thread.
