  1. Is there anyone else here who records and mixes their own songs? Or other bands songs? If so, let's talk about! Perhaps we can talk of technique So I'll start off. I just want to know what programs are used more (I have an idea, but its more interesting to see what everyone uses). The DAW I use is Logic Pro 8. Great application. Only for mac osx however For drums I use Superior Drummer 2.0 with ezx Drumkit from Hell, and the sdx "The Metal Foundry". For Superior drummer, I output the overhead, all kick mics, all snare mics, hi hat, rack toms and floor toms to their own aux track. That way I use logic to process them and really can get my hands dirty. I use aptrigga2 to replace superiors kick with a more meaty kick sample that I have, which sounds amazing For guitar I input a DI signal into my computer and use Logics guitar amp pro, set it to di box, and apply an impulse response (usually two different ones for each rythm guitar. Meaning two tracks panned to hard left and two to hard right, both with two different impulse responses for a unique sound. If I have a solo guitar I dual track that and then set it to dead center, then add reverb to it using goldverb (another logic plugin). For bass I do a single track DI signal to bass amp pro in logic, set the cab to DI box and again use space designer to use an impulse response with it. (I have hundreds of impulse responses >.>) For vocals I don't really use much more than compression and an eq. Nothing special. Some fun synth stuff I like using is magic 8 bit which is an 8 bit synth. I love it so much, it adds some unique things to my music So anyone else do any of this? If so, discuss!
  2. Metal/Screamo Bands

Don't really listen to screamo, more metal myself. After the Burial Born of Osiris Veil of Maya At the Throne of Judgment Impending Doom Carnifex Whitechapel Necrophagist Ion Dissonance Beneath the Massacre Between the Buried and Me annnnnddddd the Faceless. Yes, a lot, but I love all of them an enormous amount xD.
  3. Trivium OWNS Eminem

I'm sorry to butt in here, but people shouldn't make fun of music because its different. I listen to pretty much everything but rap and country. I enjoy classical works, and am actually in three choirs, yet listen to metal. I am also a computer programmer and enjoy math. Intelligence doesn't have all that much to do with the music you listen to. It, instead, is mainly based upon the individuals personality. I like analyzing music, therefore I listen to the most technical music out there: classical and metal. But I still listen to other music. Honestly, it bores me to listen to music like rap. But, I can respect them as musicians. Basically, here's what I'm saying: music is music, why the hell are you arguing about this? It seems rather pointless. All music requires talent. I write metal, classical, and indi music. It all takes something different. Not one genre is better than any other. Stop bickering, please.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_bYyal5rDo I love Between the Buried and Me. Especially this song. Or this band. Freaking love them.
  5. In real Mine Sweeper, it is quite impossible to get a mine on your first click. Its actually coded into the algorithm. If you do get it, then the game you are playing is flawed. Just a little tip.
  6. Brain Drill Necrophagist Bloodbath Decrepit Birth The Faceless Cannibal Corpse At the Throne of Judgment BENEATH THE MASSACRE Whitechapel (bleh...) Ion Dissonance (more so just heavy breakdowns) Brother von Doom Those are the ones I listen to the most.
  7. I probably listen to the heaviest metal here. But I'm currently listening to New Found Glory, which isn't metal
  8. I'd probably spontaneously implode, then explode. In a firey ball of awesomeness.
  9. ^ this.
  10. Just one more reason I like faith in the human race. Even whilst under extreme conditions one should attempt to remain calm. If one can do that, you can think clearly and perhaps find a fire exit. This is sad in more than one way. In the lives lost, and the mass hysteria and illogical choices made. I hope this serves as a warning to people reading it. Thanks for posting this btw.
  11. Does anyone have links to articles on this subject? I'm working on some stuff but I have a pretty small understanding of how a geometry shader works completely. I know how to write them to some extent, and I know it falls between the Vertex Shader and Pixel shader, but I get lost on, for instance, the stream output and so on. As well as a cBuffer, but I believe that is just a way of holding variables... I'm assuming this is where this would go as it does have to do with technology seeing as Direct3D 10 is a technology of some sort (software/library/sdk/whatever).
  12. ohlawdy. Look whos an admin now!

  13. Doin' this by memory so parts may be a little different. case - raidmax saggita 2 blue or red processor - core i7 extreme edition 965 hard drive - 4 1.5TB HDDs. Never been a fan of raid setups though... memory - 4 GB DDR3 ram. I know, not specific but it works. gpu - 3x GTX 295s. That'd be so intense. Motherboard - idk the new core i7 motherboards that well. So idk.
  14. Post your desktops!

Here's mine Kinda censored the background...
  15. 100% god. In all seriousness, I'm a little Native American, German, Irish, and Scottish.
  16. I have a question for admins and such. Would it be possible to change my forum name to Xarshi? As that's what I go by in game... Would be great! If not, it's perfectly fine n_n. On a side note, anyone else looking forward to the updated Source SDK with L4D support? I kinda wanna mess around with ideas and almost recreate what the napalm server was in l4d Would be kinda cool to some extent.
